Starting tonight and that is why weve issued a first alert. Lets get right to nbc 10 meteorologist glen scharts to talk about all this snow. This is one of the snowest moving systems that weve ever seen and the main impact of it for much of the area is going to be overnight tonight until noon on wednesday and affecting all areas eventually. The snow mainly coming tonight and the slippery wednesday morning commute across many parts of our area. Its already started in Lehigh Valley, burks county has had some snow this morning may have some this afternoon, but its not going to start much of chefrt county, montgomery counties, bucks county until after the afternoon rush today and from the philadelphia area down through south jersey until around 11 00 tonight and the first flakes will probably be melting in this area. And then not until 7 00 tomorrow morning as you head towards the shore. Thats just an amazingly slow progress. And you can see its not moving in this direction, we had this little area break off and come through earlier today, but now everything is retreating. And this line, band of snow actually goes all the way to the gulf of mexico. Its very strange. As we go through the afternoon, temperatures above freezing across much of the area. So were not expecting much in the way of slippery driving. But as we go through the night tonight, the snow spreads through the area and eventually the temperatures drop as well. More on whos going to get how much and exactly when coming up. Right now light snow is sticking to the ground in other services in burks county. And we have Pamela Osborne live in exittor township with a look at the conditions there. Good morning, aaron if the was snowing a little bit earlier this morning within the past 30 minutes or so that light snow has muftd out but it will be back. Right behind me here you can see just a tiny bit of snow was on the road. Its kind of melted down a bit. Theyve been dropping a lot of salt down. Weve seen penndot trucks going up and down salting and plowing. We actually started making our way here because of conditions on 422, it was shut down near reddi reading as the snow fell. Things were moving again by the time we came back up to exittor. But we saw a car that lost control on another stretch of 422. It went off a road and crashed into a small building. And then this maroon car, the driver there lost control and crashed into a road sign before coming to a stop there. I talked to penndot and they told me crews were out pretreating the road east of where we are now. All 450 trucks will be out during the storm. Penndot says the snow that glen was telling us about will stick, so the plan is to have those trucks out salting the roads and then once theres an accumulation, they will be plowing the roads. We know the snow is going to impact your evening and morning commute, so when we come back well show you a piece of information, a resource that will help you see what conditions are like as soon as you leave your home or job or wherever youre headed to this evening. Reporting live from exittor township, Pamela Osborne, nbc 10 news. Well see you then, pam put can count on the nbc 10 app to kiep updated on the snowy conditions. You can track the forecast right down to your neighborhood and get weather alerts sent directly to your phone. Well, the majority of roads are back open this morning in trenton and bucks county after chunks of ice caused flooding. Ice jams created by freezing temperatures clogged the Delaware River sending water over the banks. In the meantime, we have seen people walking on the ice jam. Police warn do not do it if the is dangerous. Thats a deer right there. Some parts are moving and they can collapse into the water. Now, the snow semipacting area roads this morning. Lets get an update with traffic reporter jessica. So watching 708 right now, earlier there are was a mus mess. We had it closed in both directions. Root 183 swr this camera looking from if the was closed on east bound and westbound sides. This is what the situation looks like out in most of the parts of burks county right now, definitely one of the worst spots at least in terms of slippery areas and snow. Watching trenton too, back to that even though we talked about it a second ago, route 29 and calhoun street and Memorial Drive some of those are still closed because of the flooding. Additionally were seeing some road treatments in progress on the new jersey turnpike, and the Atlantic City expressway so parts of those roads getting treatments to help later. And to help you get started on what were seeing now, this is an abington line road and watching this google expressway, some on the eastbound and westbound sides. Eastbound you can see thats where were seeing the delay. 16 minutes right now from the blue route to the mine and speeds down in the 40s. Erin. Its going to be very different from the last two eagles home games, right . Thats right. I want to compare the game pr this past saturday to the game this sunday because its a big difference. In the yellow this weeks forecast. In the blue what we saw last week and the actual temperature, look at that drop. Were forecasting 51 for your kickoff weather. Last week it was 30 on saturday. And that was earlier in the day at 4 30 in the afternoon. Then we look at your feelslike temperature, 51. Winds are going to be so light the temperature high enough there will nobody difference. But last week during kickoff it felt like 17 degrees outsite. So this is going to feel much, much better off. Lets run through the hour by hour. Kick offat 6 40, that temperature at 51 degrees and winds mostly around 10 to 15 miles per hour. Those winldsing from a different direction as well. Southwest instead of northwest. At halftime, winds 48 degrees and the winds will stay light through the Fourth Quarter with temperatures just 46 degrees, dry conditions and just some increasing clouds. Announcer now your nbc 10 first alert weather. Well, we continue to expect snow into the area. We have quite a break during the day today and even into the evening. Not much wind. Weapon got we got a little bif sunshine into the area but we still have that first alert out and thats mainly from overnight tonight until noon tomorrow for of course the snow affecting the morning rush tomorrow most likely. And, the afternoon rush today, the main impact will be Lehigh Valley berks. Morning rush tomorrow pretty much all areas impacted. By the afternoon rush tomorrow, it wont be snow, it could be some leftover slick spots. As we look at the radar, look at this. Its just not moving in our direction. And its just barely grazing the upper portion of berks county and getting into the poconos. But it just continues way back. Look how far back, it goes all the way down to mexico. Thats over 1800 miles straight of snow. Very unusual. Very unusual. And moving very slow. Which is also unusual. Right now its 36 degrees in philadelphia, its near or above the freezing mark in much of the area. 42 Atlantic City and medicalville. 31 in reading and lancaster, 29 inial leantown. Those are the only areas where we could see some snow. Later today it could stick a little bit. But the future cache shows that this main snow area just does not move. Here we go overnight tonight, finally its starting to head toward the philadelphia area and willing ming ton and trenton, but we still have borderline temperatures and maybe a little rain in the beginning. And if it snows in the beginning could start melting and by tomorrow morning we have a more widespread snow. Once again, though, the temperatures are a little bit borderline across i95 corridor and points to the south while north and west it is cold enough to keep sticking. So i still expect more problems north and west of the philadelphia area than i do across the rest of the region. 11 00 a. M. We still have the snow, although it is tapering off and ending in western parts of the area. And by the afternoon rush, its all gone and maybe even the sun coming out late in the day. And then some cold air by thursday morning, parts of the area are in the teens and philadelphias in the low 20s. So the snow totals, the least amount toward the shore, southern dahl, the greatest to the north. We havent really changed it, our original think was 3 to 5 inches for the Lehigh Valley, berks county, parts of upper bucks, western montgomery, northern chester county. Youll see easton, allentown, reading, all in the 3 to 5, richmond and bucks county in the 3 to 5. Buckingham, North Hampton in the 1 to 2 inches. And back to norristown, appington, philadelphia, west chest, he wilmington, again, in the 1 to 2 inch category. And most of the snow, the worst of it comes during the morning rush tomorrow. So thats the time to leave a little extra time and to drive a little more slowly. Its not a big storm, does not have the potential to be, but it certainly could be messy for that morning rush. Ill be back with more on what to expect coming up. The road to victory is rolling through philadelphia. Up next, im talking to Philadelphia Eagles insider dave spa dare row about sundays matchup against minnesota and what the birds need to do to make sure the super bowl isnt a home game for the vikings. Next time, i want you on my bowling team. [ laughs ] rodney. Bowling. Classic. Can i help you . Its me. Jamie. Im not good with names. Celeste i trained you. We share a locker. Moose man yo. He gets two name your price tools. He gets two . I literally coined the phrase, we give you Coverage Options based on your budget. Thats me. Jamie yeah. Youre back from italy. [ both smooch ] ciao bella. All right. Hop on to the road to victory. All thats standing in the way of the eagles and the super bowl is the minnesota vikings. Let that process a little bit as we count down to the nfc championship game sunday. Philadelphia eagles dave spadaro is here with us this morning. Always love having you. Thank you. Eagles defense, lets jump right in. Thats a big reason why were in the championship game. No doubt. Theyve played great, they dominated the line of scrimmage against laenatlanta and they ju fit very well. Jim schwartz, the offensive coordinator, he knew what do. Thats a result of good film study and it set off a wild celebration in philly. Nick foles, whatd you think of him and his performance on saturday . Impressive. Didnt turn the ball over with the pass. Too many mistakes ovffensively, loved the game plan. When nick foles sat his best as we snau his first start here against the giants, he throws the ball and gives the Wide Receivers a chance to make plays. Didnt do that in games against oakland ant dallas cowboys, relied on the short passes like that screen pass for a touchdown to jay agjayi. On saturday much better at getting that ball ought. The offensive line did a great job of keeping the pocket clean for him and he did a great job of getting to the refers. They pulled out an incredible win over the saints but what are your main concerns here . Its going to be a bloody, nasty, smashmouth Football Game and the eagles cannot be as sloppy as they were on saturday against atlanta. They certainly cant do that. Thats just an egregious mistake by the defense in new orleans. So good luck to the vikings to keep that emotion going. Think the key, look, playing with intensity, emotion, and dont turn the football over. But honestly think its going to be a tough, physical, nasty game. I just did not understand that play right there. Yeah. He talked a little bit switching a little bit, the eagles autism challenge thats coming up this spring, but theres a special promotion. Talk about that. This is the championship week, weve got a championship challenge for all of you who want to take part in the autism challenge or are already taking part, weve got a 25,000 to match. So every dollar that is contributed starting wednesday until kickoff up to 25,000 will be matched. So if you want to join, waends a great time to join. If youve already joined and you want to get your numbers up a little bit, please continue between wednesday and sunday. Up to 25,000 total, its a great little boost for a great cause that takes place on may 19th. What happens on sunday . I think the eagles win a tight game. I think its going to be very much like it he was against the atlanta falcons, tight, low scoring. Down to the wire. Fans on the feet the entire game, down to the wire. You can take it . I dont know. I dont know if i can take it. Dave spadaro, thanks for being here with us hopefully youre back here next week and well be talk about the super bowl. Nbc 10 is your official eagles station. Weve got you covered with exclusive pregame content. Join us friday night and saturday night at 7 00 for special eagles coverage and then it is game day, folks. Join nbc 10 saturday morning start agent 10 00 for exclusive eagles content all day long as we take you on the eagles road to victory. Well, snow fell through parts of our area this morning and it will be with us through tomorrow as we look live right now in allentown. Thats why weve issued a first alert. We continue to track the snow and its impact on our region. More Live Team Coverage just ahead. Plus, flying through the air. New video captures the moment the car goes airborne and ends up in a tight spot. Nuns. Announcer now your nbc 10 first alert weather. Were in a first alert this morning for snow thats on the way. A light snow fell in berks county this morning already. We saw minor accidents along route 422 in exeter township. We also saw cruise out clearing the roads. Snow also fell through the philadelphia area and more snow is heading our way. Thats expected to impact the morning commute tomorrow. Youre looking live right now at i95 in south philly. Nbc 10 first alert meteorologist glen squharts is tracking it all, and it is a clo mover. Its about as slow as any system that we have ever seen. This is so unusual. Its snowing in the poke knows d theyre going to get a nice little accumulation, several inches of snow as we go into the rest of the day today and into tomorrow. The first alert is for the whole area, mainly overnight tonight and into tomorrow morning. And thats the morning rush thats going to be the main issue. And snow overnight tonight generally between midnight and 6 00 a. M. Its already been snowing Lehigh Valley, berks county and the poconos. As far as the spread, its going to take all day just to go 20 miles going into other parts of chester, bucks, and montgomery, and then it will take all evening to get through to the philadelphia area and the adjacent suburbs in new jersey and delaware. And then take till tomorrow morning to get close to the coast and even there that therecould be a mixture with rain at least at the beginning. So theres berks and lehigh and its not progressing as a matter of fact, there was some earl thats actually retreated a little bit. And that band, as we showed you earlier, not only goes down to kentucky, it goes down to mexico. Mexico. And theyre getting terrible problems in texas as a result of the same thing. All right. Here we go. This afternoon making slow progress but as you see temperatures generally at or above freezing so we dont expect trouble this afternoon for the rush. And as we go through the night tonight, the snow area gradually moves through and temperatures gradually go down. So by tomorrow mornings rush certainly could be slick spots on untreated surfaces and then we finally dry out. Ill have the forecast for the rest of the week and the eagles coming up. Berks county was one of the first areas to see steady snow this morning. Now it is covering surfaces including roads in that area. Lets check back in with nbc 10s Pamela Osborne live in exeter township. Pam. Reporter well, erin, if you havent heard of the 511 pa app or website, theres really some good information that you can see there. Ive actually pulled it up for you here so you can take a look. It can really help you understand what youre in for when youre leaving for home tonight, when youre waiking up in the morning there. You can very easily see how many plows are out there, for instance, in the reading area there are 69 here right now. Where theyre going, where they have been so far, and what your commute might look like based off of all that information. We actually started making our way here because the conditions on 422. It was shut down here reading in both directions as the snow fell because of accidents. Things were moving again by the time we made it up to exeter township, but, again, it was not easy to get around. We saw a car that lost control on a different stretch of 422 and went off the road and crashed into a small building. The driver was okay. In nearly the exact same spot we saw this maroon car, the driver of that vehicle lost control and crashed into a road sign, took that down before coming to a stop right there. I talked to penndot, they tell me that crews were out pretreating the roads around midnight southeast of where we are now. Right now we know that all 450 trucks will be out during the storm. Crews are expecting that snow that glen was talking about to stick, so youll likely see them samting and then plowing the roadways this morning or this evening, rather, and this morning. Just one piece of advice four. If you do happen to be out while a snowplow driving and trying to do their work, allow yourself about six extra car lengths behind that plow so they can do what they have to do to get the roads safe for all of us. Reporting live in exeter township, Pamela Osborne, nbc 10 news. Thanks for that. Another good tool to have art nbc 10 app put can heck it throughout the day to keep track of the snow. Moving up a little further north the garden state parkway, areas down the shore or heading through the Atlantic City expressway through Central Jersey those areas are being treated right now. Youll see maybe a lot of salt trucks, plows, or anything in the area that might be of a little bit of a roadblock for you. Moving into torts trentd ton were watching these areas of earlier flooding. Southbound ramp to calhoun street and memorial exit around market street, that whole area a lot of closures in the area that could be open and closed as the afternoon progresses as well. So watch for that. And also watching berks county still. Heres 78 around route 645 put ski a little bit close to our camera lens here a little bit of snowflakes flying through but east and westbound not seeing or having any problems that are reported for sure following earlier closure of this same road because of how slippery it was out there. Not a lot of volume but you can see that snow is kufrgt roads too. Erin. Well, in less than a half hour phil murphy will be inaugurated as the 56th governor. Now your nbc 10 first alert weather. A few snow showers in the philadelphia area early today. They have moved out. We have some peeks of sunshine. Were getting less and less ice along the Delaware River. And that trend will continue at least through next the rest of the week and into the weekend. Were going to be seeing some real differences here as we go toward the weekend. We have a first alert out for the snow thats mainly overnight tonight. The afternoon rush today, the only impact with any snow lee wye valley berks county. Morning rush tomorrow all areas potentially affected by the afternoon rush tomorrow, no snow, but some leftover slick spots on the untreated surfaces. As you can see, this area of snow is moving that way, not this way, its not moving any closer to us and that trend is going to continue for a while. This snow stretches all the way down to mexico, well over 1800 miles worth, and theyre get something nasty snow and ice even down to houston with the same system that is affecting us. 36 in philadelphia now, so were well above freezing. Any snow that occurs even this evening in philadelphia should be melting on the roads and its 29 in allentown. These areas north and west be more problems as a result of the temperatures combined with the snow. Its 29 in fleetwood, in len ardsville, berkstown is 29, white hall is 30, 29 in beth la ham, nath reg, you can see at this time of day temperatures are well below freezing. If you get a decent burst of snow it can start covering the roads again. He was go through the afternoon, and into the early evening, that snow does not get any closer. Its going to take a push. And the push comes overnight tonight and its a slow push at that. And here we under the middle of the night and were maybe getting a little bit of mix in the philadelphia area, wilmington, temperatures are marginal. And even by tomorrow morning if this computer models right and its 33, the snow would melt on the roads in mount holly and philly and perhaps down into parts of delaware. Thats going to be a close call there and its certainly going to be cold enough north and west to continue to stick on roads and theyre going to get more snow in that portion of our area too. By tomorrow afternoon rushs its all offshore and were drying out. Least amount of snow, southern delaware, south jersey, the greatest amount of snow up to the north of poconos, Lehigh Valley, these 3 to 5 inches east to allentown, to reading and weve been consistent with that since the beginning. And 1 to 2 inches from Mercer County through plainsboro, trenton, narth hampton, abbinge ton, florence, new jersey, wilmington r delaware, chester, and then lesser amounts down to the south east with marginal temperatures. So may not be much of a problem at all. And the weathers not going to be a problem for the eagles this weekend. Weve got 51 degrees at kickoff, only dropping to 48 at halftime and 46 by the Fourth Quarter. I mean, that is not cold and certainly compared to what weve seen for the last couple of games its a lot warmer. So in philadelphia this mix of rain and snow comes later tonight. We have some snow wednesday morning and then thursday is kind of chilly but not freezing cold. And as you can see, we do dry out and thursday and friday are looking pretty good with a warming trend coming and well be right back. Happening right now, we are Just Moments Away from the inauguration of democrat phil murphy as new jerseys next governor. Youre looking live at the care moan under way. The big star last night at the warriors cavaliers basketball game was not a player, it was 5yearold ta various jones performed at halftime. He performed his dance moves and clearly he stole the show. Jones has also appeared on the ellen show. I sthau live. Really . And hes really on with the music. The dance moves are not random at all. And youre right on with the forecast. Well. All the time. I certainly hope i can live up to that. Its standard for dancing. Now, we have some snow thats generally coming in overnight tonight. Afternoon rush is going to be fine except for berks county, Lehigh Valley. Tomorrow mornings rush is it should be snowing across much of the area. Then we have dry weather for a while. And you notice the temperatures going up. And into the 50s by this weekend. So a tremendous contrast to the previous two weekends which have been frigid. Yeah. And so the eagles will not be playing in frigid weather at all, it will be near 50 at kickoff. Good for fans. Thanks for watching nbc news 10 at 11 00. From all of us here at nbc 10, have a great day. See you at 4 00. Im a concrete mason. I own my own company. I had some severe fatigue, some funny rashes. Finally, listening to my wife, went to a doctor. And i became diagnosed with hodgkins lymphoma. That diagnosis was tough. I had to put my trust in somebody. When i first met steve, we recommended chemotherapy, and then we did high dose therapy and then autologous stem cell transplant. Unfortunately, he went on to have progressive disease. I thought that he would be a good candidate for immune therapy. Its an intravenous medicine that can affect the patients immune system and unleash it against the cancer. With chemotherapy, i felt rough, fatigue, nauseous. And with immune therapy weve had such a positive result. Im back to working hard. Ive honestly never felt this great. I believe the future of immunotherapy at ctca is very bright. The evolution of cancer care is here. Learn more at cancercenter. Com Appointments Available now. Kayla lani.
