Investigating but so much sadness. Today one of the fellow firefighters remembered his brief but dramatic encounter with the man he calls a brother. He met him in 2005. It was during a fire the at the recording studios. He described running in the build to rescue people without a hose. He described the relief he felt when he saw him come to aid. It was a thrill to see him come through the window and advance up the ladder. Theres another viewing scheduled for tomorrow followed by funeral services. We have this just in. Dr. James kaufman said little as he appeared by video for the First Time Since being charged with the 2012 contract killing of his wife april kauffman. Hes not guilty. The doctor maintained his innocence for the past five years. Hes assisted in attempting to give information. Reporter kaufman and ferd nan were charged tuesday. They master minded the murder for hire of the radio host and veteransed advocate. April was shot to death after he threatened to expoise an illegal distribution ring connected to the Doctors Medical practice and the pagan outlaw motorcycle gang. Two others aired on racketeering also going before a judge today. Both he and april grew up in the same area. That was the shocking part. I thought they were friends. Reporter to avoid being implicated, Court Documents allege he also recently plotted to have dr. Kaufman killed by the mafia or people at the Atlantic County jail. Kaufman was locked up there since june on weapons charges after showing a gun when investigators came to search his office. He was moved to the Hudson County jail following the arr t arrest. It does not appear they are linked to a different probe. That prompted the search at kaufmans office. Four additional suspects are charged with rack tearing. All but one are awaiting extradition from other states. A tense standoff between police and a barricaded man ended after more than 13 hours in sick lerville. Residents in the development took this video of police entering the barricaded mans home. The whole ordeal began wednesday night when the man fired at an armored struck truck. More than a dozen homes were evacuated and 14 schools cancelled classes for the day.
