Overnight we learned the train was going more than double the speed limit when it crashed. The ntsb says the data recorder shows the train was going 80 Miles Per Hour in a 30 mileanhour zone. The train left the tracks, nosedived off the overparks and landed on a busy overpass, and landed on a busy highway below. Many worked together to rescue riders trapped in the trancars. Amtrak said train cars. Amtrak said the train was on refurbished tracks designed for faster trips. In philadelphia, eight people were killed in 2015 when an amtrak train traveling from washington, d. A few weeks ago, near 11th and spruce at center city, a 24yearold was hit and killed while riding her bike. The city has announced new safety measures, but the accidents have riders and their families demanding that more be done. You dont have to widen the roads or do anything else. Just change the way theyre laid out. Put the parked cars in the middle, the bikes and the traveler lanes separate from each other. Thomas public defender entered a not guilty plea on numerous counts of molestation and exposure. Republicans in harrisburg are blasting Governor Tom Wolf after he rejected a bill that would put stricter limits on abortions. Wolf, a democrat, formally vetoed the measure at city hall yesterday. The large ben or menorah out the katz center is one. They cut cords, broke branches. They also damaged the menorahs at the recreational complex and another at municipal pier. The cases are believed to be connected, and they are being handled as acts of hate. My heart goes out to the community, but my heart goes out to whoever did this. To live a life with such hatred like that. A replacement menorah has been put up outside the rec center. The one at the pier has been repaired. The house will vote on a tax reform bill. Congressional republicans believe they are on the edge of a legislative victory. The senate vote should happen soon after the house votes. And this morning, philadelphia bicyclists will again call for the city to make their safety a priority. They point to two recent incidents where trucks hit riders in center city. One woman is in the hospital. The other died. The city has restriped lanes and announced safety measures. Riders say more needs to be done.
