A teacher at Holland Middle School shared with us this seismograph picture showing the moment the earthquake hit. Here are pictures of the damage. This morning, were learning more about the drexel graduate who faces a murder charge after trying to break up a fight. Joseph howanski shot a man on lancaster avenue tuesday as he was trying to intervene in an argument between a couple. His roomate said he usually was calm and remembered how howanski reacted to someone following him late night from a wawa. He had a concealed carry permit, and his former roommate said he carried a gun to feel safer in his offcampus neighborhood. We reached out to police to find out how the encounter escalated, what he did to intervene. Were told theyre not releasing any more information. Parents in Montgomery County are concerned after learning a trusted karate instructor is accused of skpuexually assaulti three of his teenage students. Evan burgess assaulted the kids during sleepovers at his home and during outofstate trips to martial arts tournaments. He taught at the premier martial arts in conshohocken. The Karate School put him on leave in may when it learned of the allegations. Today, the senate will resume debate on the gop tax plan. A handful of senators remain holdouts because of concerns about how the bill would affect the deficit and small businesses. Nbc10s Pamela Osborne is live in our Digital Operations Center with more on when the vote might happen now. Reporter a vote on the bill could come as early as today. Yesterday the gop tax plan received a big boost by arizona senator john mccain who announced he would be voting in favor of the bill. As he said, not all republicans are on board. There are three holdouts who say their concerns are about how the bill would impact the deficit. And with no democratic support for the plan expected, the republicans can only afford to lose two votes. Late in the day, the joint committee on taxation released its nonpartisan analysis of the bill. They estimate that even with the Economic Growth that republicans are expecting, the bill would increase the deficit by 1 trillion over ten years. Republicans believe they have the votes to push it through. No chance you dont get this done . No. Failures not an option. We need a tax cut. I think the bill has been billed much more as being a middleclass tax cut when thats not what it is. Reporter and the Nonpartisan Tax Policy Center says twothirds of middleclass earners would say tax increases under the tax plan. A San Francisco jury found a mexican man not guilty in a case that put socalled sanctuary cities at the center of a national debate. The jury acquitted him in the killing of kathryn steinle. She died in her fathers arms after she was shot walking on a pier in San Francisco. The defense argued the shooting was accidental. President trump often cited the case while campaigning, using it as an example of why stronger immigration laws are needed. A measure is moving through the new Jersey Assembly that would make sure opioid Treatment Options are offered when someone receives an antidote for an overdose. Under the bill, Health Care Professionals or First Responders who give the opioid antidote to someone who has overdosed has to inform the person of the process when the treatment is complete.
