Weve been watching a situation in maple shade, new jersey, route 73. There was an accident investigation taking place after a fatal accident there. 73 was closed. Good news is now all lanes are reopened, both northbound and southbound. You shouldnt have any trouble there. If youre traveling mass transit this morning, amtrak, septa, new jersey transit, and patco all running on time. More on that breaking news that pamela mentioned in burlington tonight. Police arrested the driver accused in a deadly hit and run. Investigators say the driver ran down someone on a busy road and left that person for dead. Nbc10s matt delucia is live along route 73 and maple shade. Tell us how this played out. Reporter investigators left the scene in the past hour here along route 73. You can see that the lanes are all open now, both northbound and southbound. For a while there had been one lane getting by. Everything is clear at 38. Were by laurel lanes, to give you an idea of where this hit and run happened overnight, about 12 30 this morning. We did have word of an arrest of one person dead. Were working to understand the details of what happened that left one person dead. Likely the person behind the wheel when this happened. Theres one arrest according to burlington authorities. As we take a live look at the scene, route 73 both directions, back open now. The only area open where norristown meets up with 38 at the mall. This is good news for the commute. Well keep you updated as we learn more details about the deadly hit and run. Thanks. 6 04. Now to a tragedy in philadelphias olney neighborhood. A 2yearold boy is dead, and police are saying they believe the toddler shot himself. A relative found the body in an alleyway behind the home on west godfrey avenue yesterday. Police towed a car from the alley with degrees in the back seat. With toys in the back seat. Neighbor crystal freeman walked over to the home after the toddler died. Seen a little wooden chair knocked to the floor, and a bunch of blood just everywhere. So it was heartbreaking to see Something Like that. It really bothered me. Police searched the home. Theyve not said whether they recovered the gun, who owns it, or how the toddler got his hands on the gun in the first place. At this point, officials have not charged or arrested anyone. 6 04. 47 degrees outside. Were hearing from an allentown family on the loss of their loved one to gun violence. Police say someone shot 19yearold paris lane multiple times wednesday night. He was found in a parking lot of the hamilton towers. Police left candles at a growing memorial outside his home. The family is struggling to understand what happened. Nobody should ever have to bury their child. This violence out here is senseless. Allentown Police Continue to look for the shooter. This is the third homicide in that city in a week. 6 05. Jurors deliberating over the corruption trial for new jersey senator bob menendez will have to start from scratch come monday. The judge dismissed a jury yesterday putting an alternate in her place. The juror didnt do anything wrong. Instead, the judge had promised to let her go back in august if deliberations went this long. As the woman left court yesterday, she told reporters the mood inside the jury room is tense. However, she said in her opinion, the prosecution is confused on the definition of corruption. Through the whole trial, ive paid attention to everything that they showed me. What i say, the government didnt give me enough. I think the defense showed me enough to say hes not guilty on every count. She also said one juror was pushing strongly for an acquittal. And she believes the trial will end with a hung jury. Menendez is accused of taking gifts from his friend, a wealthy doctor in exchange for political favors. Both men have pleaded not guilti. Our check of the headlines begins with breaking news on route 73 in maple shade, burlington county. Police made an arrest in a hit and run there. The accident investigation has cleared. No word on the victim or who police took into custody. And breaking news out of trenton. Fire destroyed a home overnight. Flames ripped through the home on prospect at 11 00 last night. It took hours to bring it under control. Officials havent said if anyone is hurt or what caused the fire. The family of former pitcher roy halladay will hold a celebration of life at spectrum field in clearwater, florida, at 4 00 p. M. The service will be open to the public. Halladay died when his small plane crashed off the gulf coast of florida tuesday. He was 40 years old. In a statement, halladays family called him an amazing father, loving husband, and loyal friend. And also said he serves as an example of professionalism, integrity, and hard work for all who knew him. For us, we will remember his unconditional love, humanity, and sacrifices he made to provide for the family that meant the world to him. The man who allegedly swiped the roy halladay jersey from a memorial outside Citizens Bank park may not face a theft charge. Police say a k9 officer chased down and arrested him after he hid the jersey under his jacket and ran away. Police tell us they issued the man a Disorderly Conduct summons and released him. 6 33. This morning, were hearing from the family of a coast guard member from Gloucester County who was killed in an alleged drunk driving crash. Virginia state police say petty officer daniel dill died after a wrongway driver hit him head on near Virginia Beach saturday. The driver, 25yearold melissa hancock, is facing dui and other charges. Police say more charges are possible. Dills family in Logan Township is trying to come to grips with their loss. Im disgusted to her poor decision cost my son who was making all the right decisions his life. Its so unfair. The accused, melissa hancock, was featured on the lifetime show little women of atlanta. The Pennsylvania State trooper shot in North Hampton county remains in Critical Condition after having a second surgery yesterday. Corporal seth kelley was shot several times by a man he pulled over along route 33 in plainfield township. The suspect turned up at a hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. Hes facing attempted murder charges. Prosecutors say they may seek the Death Penalty as punishment for the deadly prison riot even throw its not allowed in even though its not allowed in the state. The Supreme Court ruled the Death Penalty was constitutional. Prosecutors say if lawmakers reinstate capital punishment, they will seek it in this case. 18 prisoners are charged in the uprising in february. One corrections officer was killed. This morning, President Trump is in vietnam for an International Economic summit, but all eyes are on a potential meeting with a russian president vladimir putin. Putins Foreign Affairs adviser says the russian leader is expected to meet with President Trump during the summit sessions and that officials are trying to carve out a time slot for the two leaders to meet separately.
