Sunday during the day through sunday night we are looking at kind of a variety of things happening. Were going to see periods of heavy rain, some thunderstorms possible. Then those strong winds. So the entire area is under a first alert for like i mentioned the rain, the thunderstorms, the strong winds and the possibility of some localized street flooding especially and we said this about a week ago, when youve got leaves that start to clog drains and then you get an inch, maybe more in a small period of time, thats when you could see some of that localized flooding occurring this time of year. On radar and satellite a nice tight view. Looks great. Weve got clear conditions. Were going to see just a few scattered clouds out there through the morning and afternoon hours. Mostly sunny, then partly cloudy late in the day. Just a spot sprinkle possible in the evening. Tomorrow way different story. Take a look, this is a view of a cold front thats sitting to our west. That cold fronts moving east. So its heading our direction. Problem is right as its moving to the east this tropical moisture is moving to the northeast and will arrive to the east coast. Well have tropical moisture and a cold front coming together makes for a perfect storm setup for our area. Today, 51 our current temperature in philadelphia. 53 by about 8 00 a. M. Look at 11 00 a. M. , already up to 65 degrees. That is already warmer than average for this time of year. And were getting warmer in the afternoon. So todays a nice one. This morning, a 16yearold boy is in jail waiting to go before a judge for the murders of two other teens in south philadelphia. Brandon olivieri surrendered to police last night. The teenager did not answer questions as he was led into Police Headquarters chlgt investigators say he shot and killed Caleer Miller and s sal dinubile. People who know the victims tell nbc10 they were not friends. Early Tuesday Morning the house was a target of gunfire. People are on the look out for this man. They say Kalen Jackson is responsible for two carjackings, investigators describe him as armed and dangerous. Nbc10s drew smith spoke to one of his victims and his perspective on what happened may surprise you. Reporter the search for this guy began more than 24 hours ago. The first in a series of crimes happening in an Apartment Building right across the street from the police station. Shots fired into the walls of this lobby. Investigators say calen jackson stole keys during a fight and took off in a white chevy. The next morning richard bird saw jackson walking. He was right out there. Reporter seven miles away from the city, this is a quiet neighborhood in claimant. He asked me if i had a set of jumper cables. Reporter bird says he was happy to help but next thing he knew a gun was in his face and told to get into the passenger seat of his kia sorento. Neighbors were shocked. Especially that time in the morning, any time here just doesnt happen. Reporter bird would be gone for nearly two hours traveling all over new castle county. I just followed his directions and tried to be as friendly with him as i could. Reporter we checked and he was arrested several years ago for burglaries. He didnt seem like an angry criminal, he dropped him off near home and now hoping the car gets returned. A friendly kind of person but hijack your car that you ever want to meet. Reporter police are warning people not to go near this guy. They say hes dangerous. If you see the maroon kia sorento, dial 911. Nbc10 drew smith. Here are more details on the car a 2012 model and has a delaware license plate pc 422283. A crash along an Atlantic County road takes the life of a Good Samaritan who was trying to help strangers having some car trouble. The crash happened early yesterday morning in galloway township. He and the man were trying to push the car off the road when both were hit. The other man has minor injuries. He died at the scene. His exwife tells nbc10 he liked to help people in need. Always, always when we were married i used to fight with him for stopping all the time for people. But i guess that was his mission in life help others always. The driver who hit him has not been charged. Nearly two dozen people are injured following two bus crashes in new jersey. Last night skyforce 10 was over pointville road in pemberton. Wires landed on top of the bus, two people went to the hospital with bruises. Earlier this bus crashed near great adventure. 17 people on board the bus were hurt. 5 36 right now on this saturday. Today, you can ride your bike go for a walk, push the stroller, whatever, you can do it on streets in philadelphia that will not be open to drivers. So it will be traffic free. From here in old city all the way up to north philly youre going to find signs just like this, no stopping, no parking, because of Philadelphia Free streets. What it means is youre actually able to walk out into the intersection wherever you want from here on third street in chestnut all the way up to fairhill. Let me show you whats happening now. Crews up early setting up the stage because theres going to be a big Ribbon Cutting here as well as a power walk led by mayor jim kenney. That begins here at third and chestnut about 9 00 this morning. The closures will then ride north up third and fourth streets onto germantown avenue, into north philly and ending all the way up in fairhill. No cars allowed. And all along this route are free events like yoga, dancing, handball and workouts. Its the citys second experiment getting rid of cars, but this is the first time it actually extends into north philly away from center city. And most folks we talk to say its a good chance to get out and explore. They always close down and completely pedestrian friendly. I think its great. Reporter as you can see some of these closures are starting to get under way. Officially they all begin about 6 00 starting here in old city. You may recall that this whole idea actually started when pope francis visited philadelphia a few years ago. Because of security reasons the city had to close a number of streets, but residents found it so fun to just get out and walk around that they kept the tradition alive. Its not going to be a constant rain the entire day but looks like there will certainly be periods of rainy conditions which means kind of the eagles game unfortunately not the best for us. Mid 60s the best to start at kickoff, were going to be breezy to windy out there. See winds around sustaining 15 to 25 miles per hour. It will likely be rainy as well so bring the rain gear. Governor Chris Christie says 85 of the recoverys done, but he admits about 1,000 families are still not in their homes and so the work continues. Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf insists he wont let the states colleges be held hostage by funding fights anymore. Yesterday the governor signed bills approving 600 million in funding for the following university, temple, lincoln, penn state, pitt and the university of pennsylvania vet school. That money had been held up because of a budget stalemate happening for months until just this past week. In a statement wolf says, quote, our flagship Higher Education institutions should never again be held hostage by the general assemblys budget process. A south jersey father is finishing up an elaborate halloween display, but one Neighbor Calls a safety hazard. Doug kirkwoods family has a tradition outside their home. Theyve had an elaborate display for the last decade. This year a neighbor calling for safety hazard. Its for a good cause, kids enjoy it and gets families together. And weve never had any problems here. We talked to the township. The township tells us its up to kirkwood if he wants to take it down. Kirkwood says this year he wants to make his display even bigger and better. Kids across our area are getting an early start on trick or treating. They showed off costumes and got loads of candy at the Riverside Police department in Burlington County last night. This is the third year in a row that the department has transformed its station into a Haunted House and offered a trunk or treat for families. You know, you load up the trunk with all the goodies. Philadelphia City Council Members and their staff are getting into the spooky spirit. Yesterday they dressed up in costumes and handed out treats to about 100 children to local shelters and nonprofit organizations. The kids collected plenty of candy and had plenty of fun. Now to a followup on a touching story of eagles quarterback carson wentz and his special connection he had with a Young Bitcoin from delaware. Wentz formed a bond with lucas battling stomach cancer this summer. The 10yearold died in june. Wentz now wears a bracelet in honor of lucas. The family also attended monday nights game against the redskins. Lucas mother says theyve sold more than 23,000 bracelets and raised more than 140,000. The money goes to organizations that help families dealing with childhood cancer. Philadelphia navy yard will be the backdrop for a major cancer fundraiser tonight. Jon legend. These are typically our cool spots we see on the board here. Lets drop into the philadelphia neighborhoods. This morning 49 in west mt. Arie. Parkside at 45 and also at 45 in bustleton. So mid to upper 40s a few spot low 50s out there, time this morning is 5 49. As we go through the day here, warmer than average 67 degrees at noon and right about 70 at 4 00. Forecasting a high today of 71 degrees, a mix of clouds and sun. Light to then breezy winds as we get into the afternoon. Not a bad day at all. Radar and satellite here theres that clear picture over us. By tonight i think we could maybe get a sprinkle out there at best, but really were going to start to see some clouds increasing. This comes tomorrow, that is a cold front moving our direction. So weve got the cold front, a, and then weve look south, way south. This is some tropical moisture whats called a potential tropical cyclone, meaning its not come together quite yet for a named storm, but its got some energy. And a lot of moisture with it. This is going to start riding the east coast surging that moisture our direction combining with a front were talking heavy rain at times in the forecast. So lets track the storm for us. This is tomorrow now that were jumping to because, again, today is a pretty clear day. Tomorrow morning about 9 00 a. M. Notice weve got some showers that are possibly starting to build in across the area. Breezy conditions, that means falling what leaves start to occur, mild temperatures to start off your morning. How about in the afternoon 1 00 for the eagles kickoff here. Rain starts to get a little more steady, a little more widespread across the region. I would suggest packing rain gear if youre going to the eagles game. Got to see that next win, right . This is going to be a rainy one. Then we go into evening hours about 7 00 p. M. Now were talking periods of heavy to steady rain, soaking throughout parts of the area with some localized street flooding possible. That means the best thing you can do ahead of this sweep all those leaves up, get them out of the way so theyre not slick to walk on and get them away tr storm drains as well. Heavy rain lingering through about 10 30, 11 00 at night. Some of the heaviest will be up against the eastnortheast edge of us. Lingering light showers monday morning but more importantly strong wind gusts could lead to downed trees by your monday. Wind gusts for us today on the breezy side about 15 to 20 miles per hour. Look as we get into sunday morning and we have winds about 20 to 30 miles per hour. From morning to afternoon, evening, now gusts up to about 45 miles per hour. And then overnight into tomorrow those wind gusts up to about 55 miles per hour. Thats when were worried about damages by monday morning. As for rain totals, well, take a look here and you see this model is giving us right around close to 2 inches across the board. Now, some models are wanting to go a little higher along our north and west neighborhoods, but at this point were staying right around 2 inches for potential total rain amount well see by the end of this and that is a lot of rain while were under that first alert.
