Lets get right to meteorologist krystal klei with the most accurate weather forecast. Good morning. Were looking at radar and satellite. Weve got rain on the board. Light rain is trying to make its way to the ground in the Lehigh Valley and berks county. Sprinkles at best, especially because most of the radar returns are such a light color in nature. This is the farthest in our neighborhood areas from the radar beam. Some of us may not be making it to the ground quite yet. Dont be surprised this morning if you do see a few sprinkles on the windshield throughout the viewing area. Particularly the western edges. And you can see its more steady rain the deeper green over sussex and kent county. Well continue to pump in moisture throughout the day. While you dont see a perfect line or washout ahead of us, we are going to see on and off showers continue to generate throughout the day. Temperatures, well, right now were at 67 in philadelphia and wilmington. 62 in pottstown at mt. Holly. Wildwood, Rehoboth Beach in the 70s. Warmer air to the southwest. The fact that he lied to everybody is he deserves that. I would tell you, you fight for what you believe in and never back down from anybody. You dont bow to no one. The family took to social media saying this is bigger than football. They hope this motivates him to fight even more against social injustices and racism. They had nothing to play for before the match, but before you knew it they had the lead. The u. S. Had chances late but could not convert into the desperation tries. Trinidad, tobago, ultimately won 21. Until last night, trinidad had been winless in its previous nine games. Oh, the humanity. I know a lot of people who are not happy about that. Along the western edge of the viewing zone, starting south over sussex county. The green in seaford and millsboro, a steady rain at best. Theres not really any storms that made their way through sussex county. In pennsylvania, Lehigh Valley and berks county, suburbs, a light rain. All of that is back open and clear. 12 minutes at the most, pretty light eastbound from the blue route to the vine. Speeds into the 60s. Well end with mass transit where everything is on or close to schedule for septa, amtrak, patco, and new jersey transit. Back to you. All right. Warning signs parents just cant miss. Nbc10s tammy sousa is talking about her sons brain tumor diagnosis. The symptoms she says you need to be aware of. And cover girl, a delaware mom is one of the faces of dress barn. How her story of survival launched her career. Meet Steve Sweeney. Hes a doubledipping pension padder. Doubledipping pension padder he had two government jobs, two paychecks and padded his pension along the way. Hes a doubledipping pension padder now hes making over 300,000 a year as a lobbyist and a senator. Doubledipping pension padder so hes all set thanks to you, the taxpayer. Which is why Steve Sweeney had no problem voting to raise your taxes 145 times, including the largest gas tax hike in history. Sounds about right, coming from a. Doubledipping pension padder honey, what are you doing . Watching a cow. . Whats it doing . Impressions start your day with the new hash brown scramble bowl from chickfila. This summer many of you wrote us asking where our chief meteorologist tammy sousa had gone. For more than a month, tammy was dealing with a lifeanddeath Health Crisis involving her 8yearold son caleb. She had just gotten here to nbc10 and had to go back to chicago. Its a story shes sharing so other parents can learn about the warning signs. We have more on calebs road to recovery. How are you . Reporter my gosh. For weeks this summer, lurie Childrens Hospital of chicago was home for tammys 8yearold son caleb. We didnt leave the hospital for two weeks. We were in the hospital room camped out. Reporter tammy and her husband greg found their lives on hold. Heres a side view of his brain. Where you see the tumor is resting in that posterior part of the skull. Reporter after months of unexplained symptoms, an mri revealed a tumor called a glioma, growing in his brain. The solid portion was the size of a lemon. The fluid portion may be the size of like a granny smith apple or large orange. Pretty sizable. Reporter in an 8yearold boys head. Yeah. Reporter can you describe for me what your head was feeling like . It was feeling like someone was like shooting it or putting a knife in it. Like tearing it apart. He had the migraine headaches the first thing. The first migraine was so massive he woke up screaming in the morning. He threw up and went back to sleep for several hours. What are you doing . Cleaning the deck. Reporter what were you seeing, greg, in his behavior, in his demeanor, in his speech . It was Little Things, Little Things hed get up from sitting down and kind of get a little wobbly. And i would ask, are you okay . He goes, daddy, im feeling dizzy. At one point, he said, you know, i cant read things close up. I thought, oh, this is out of the blue. I thought, lets get your eyes checked. Maybe you need glasses. He had the eye check, perfect vision. Nothing presented to the ophthalmologi ophthalmologist. At his pediatrician, he didnt present with anything that was odd. His balance, motor skills were fine. Calebs story is a story we hear over and over again in that hes a child that had symptoms that any kid could be complaining of headache, little imbalance, trouble concentrating. And calebs primary care physician did everything that he could to evaluate the symptoms. I think we could have saved him a lot of pain and time, and this was too close a call. Reporter with thousands of children diagnosed with the same type of tumor as caleb every year, its a close call tammy and greg hope other parents never have to face. What persons should look for is normal, happy children should not have severe migraine headaches. And you should monitor that and any other signs. This is a lowgrade tumor. Its not technically considered cancer because its not highly malignant. But it can be fatal. Reporter thats the direction calebs case was headed as pressure from the tumor and surrounding fluid was interfering with his brains normal functions. She said we needed to do this now. Reporter during seven hours of emergency surgery, doctors successfully removed the tumor and its surrounding fluid sac. We were able to get the entire tumor out and close everything up beautifully. He woke up perfect. Did great. Reporter caleb not only woke up perfectly but was a trooper in his recovery. And the headaches were gone. As you look at the images, doctor, and the image on the left versus the image on the right, how would you characterize the outcome here the best outcome that we could have expected surgically, absolutely. Reporter do you feel like youre sort of coming up for air . Were starting, yeah. Processing it and starting to kind of get back to a little normalcy. I think its going to be a while. There you go. Reporter here he is running around your back yard playing baseball. Five weeks later. Yes. Reporter hard to believe. I look at it, and it just brings tears to my eyes. Hes happy. Hell be the first person to tell you that every days a good day because he had a brain tumor, and he doesnt have it anymore. Reporter caleb will have to be monitored with periodic brain scans to make sure the tumor doesnt return, but he is doing great. Later today on nbc10 news at 4 00, the longterm prognosis, and why his surgeon is sounding the reform for more Research Dollars devoted to learning more about the childhood tumors. I was checking the ground observations over the suburbs, berks county, Lehigh Valley, not reporting anything. If you want to tweet me if you are seeing rain. I think just a few sprinkles are falling in this area at best. Further south, maybe a little more steady rain. The yellows and oranges are just out of reach here. Thats the thunderstorm to the south. Theres a warm front down there. Its not really going to make it to us. For us today, an on and off shower kind of forecast. Look at the model here. Through 9 30 in the morning, this models been underplaying the morning rain. Spotty sprinkles are certainly possible during the commute. In the afternoon, more scattered shower activity is possible. Then extending through thursday and friday, yesterday in the mid 80s. Today, 75 is the forecast high. Its still warmer than average with scattered showers. Those showers continue thursday.
