Right now im tracking light showers moving through wilmington into Burlington County and bucks county in pennsylvania and in the Lehigh Valley were some light showers as well. But heres the main band of rain. You can see how quickly its moved across pennsylvania due in this morning. And well get a break this afternoon. Then this is going to be with us tomorrow. Later tomorrow morning, tomorrow afternoon whats left of nate will be rolling in to our area. Nate is weakening, still a Tropical Storm. It will likely weaken to a depression later today. The temperatures starting off warm this morning in the 70s will be warmer this afternoon in spite of mostly cloudy skies. Not going to see a lot of sunshine today. More likely to get wet weather this morning. New jersey, the suburbs, and philadelphia 81 degrees this afternoon. The normal high is 69 degrees. Already seeing some rain in the Lehigh Valley and showers are in delaware as well. Steadier rain to move in. When to expect thattier rain when im back in a few minutes. 7 02 right now and this morning Hurricane Nate is downgraded to a storm. Nate made a second landfall near biloxi, mississippi, but officials are concerned about storm surge from louisiana to the florida panhandle. Flooding inundated the lower level of the parking deck in biloxi overnight. You can see cars and trucks bobbing around in the water. No reports of anyone getting hurt. An nbc news crew in the dark. Heres a look at nates impact on bay st. Louis, mississippi, last night. You can see heavy rain and street flooding. The storm made landfall in louisiana as a category 1 hurricane. Firefighters here having a very busy morning dealing with two row home fires. The second fire breaking out about an hour or so ago. You can see crews still on scene here. Were told one house with major damage and you can see the ladders going up to the second story there. According to fire officials two people injured in this fire taken to the hospital. And just a few hours earlier about 1 00 this morning also in holmesburg on wingate street flames erupting about 1 00. This from philly fire showing flames popping out of the roof. Firefighters actually had to call in extra engines. They had to evacuate one of the buildings for a point in time. That twoalert blaze brought under control. Two homes destroyed and a philadelphia firefighters suffered minor injuries. Two major fires that firefighters here are dealing with this morning. The red cross is helping several people after fire ripped through their homes in camden county. Nbc 10 was on Medford Court in winslow township. Fire crews put them out within minutes. Police think he may harm himself or others. He chased three students as they walked back to their dorms last sunday. The students say he also made a cutting gesture across his throat before running after them. Police say timez is no longer e has green eyebrows. Nate is still a Tropical Storm no longer a hurricane that will weaken considerably. Look at all that moisture and thats the moisture that will be coming at us during the day tomorrow. Looks likely to move in in the morning and the afternoon we can see it move out of the area. The winds are down to 70 miles an hour. Still a strong storm and moving to the north northeast at 23 miles an hour. Its a very fast moving storm. Its 234not going to take that long. You see the showers moving in, coming in with the cold front. Showers taper off as we go into the afternoon. 1 00 this afternoon some scattered showers, mainly just cloudy and warm with temperatures in the low 80s. You can see a few drops here and there. An isolated shower is possible. A chance of some thunderstorms developing as we go into the evening hours and then tomorrow here comes the wet weather courtesy of nate. Arriving right around midday with some they have downpours and then it moves on. And rainfall totals will be impressive. She is still in the hospital this morning. Police a man in a dark hoodie walk into the shop on the 3400 block of fairmont avenue. He demanded money. When he couldnt any he shot the victim before running out. Police tell us they have Surveillance Video from the store but theyre not releasing it just yet as they continue to search for the gunman. But their names and their stories will forever be etched into the hearts of the American People. A prayer walk was also held in memory of the 58 People Killed and nearly 500 injured last weekend after the walk, 58 doves were released on the steps of city hall. A service to honor the victims of the Las Vegas Massacre provided hope and healing to people in our area. Whereshipers gathered in center city at the basilica of saints peter and paul. Red candles lined the communion rail in memory of the 58 victims of the focus of the service was on strengthening relationships even in time of tragedy. Its not a time to challenge him like, oh, god, why did this happen . But, oh, god be with us, be near us is the better response. The shooting sure to be the focus of many sermons and churches across the country this morning. 7 35 now and this morning Hurricane Nate is a Tropical Storm after making a second landfall near biloxi, mississippi. Officials are worried about storm surge swamping lowlying areas from louisiana to the florida panhandle. Nbc 10 National Correspondent jay gray is live in mobile, alabama, not far from where nate made its latest landfall and, jay, certainly seeing the impact there of that storm surge. Reporter yeah, ted, youre absolutely right. Mobile bay several blocks behind us here. It is obviously pushed out by the storm surge and now into the downtown area. Nate made a second landfall overnight athe mississippi coast. With the high surf and wave action and pretty well covered the road with debris, logs, and things like that. Its a treacherous drive. Reporter the effects felt by millions from louisiana through the florida panhandle, 85 to 90mileanhour winds and driving rain pushing water onto roadways and other places its not supposed to be. The storm at one time the fastest ever in the gulf rushing through the area as quickly as it moved in. This is an unusual storm. Again, with just a minimal amount of damage we hope. Reporter that was not the case as nate ripped through Central America earlier in the week as a Tropical Storm. The system blamed for at least two dozen deaths across the region. This years atlantic Hurricane Season is one of the ten most active on record. 14 named storms and nine hurricanes, five of those major hurricanes category 3 or higher. Nate, a strong reminder that Hurricane Season continues through the end of november. So the wind has died down dramatically. The rain just about over. Clearly the work here is not but, ted, if theres any good news this water seems to be receding quickly that will help as they begin to clean up and recover. Certainly helpful indeed. You will be sitting down withman Steve Scalise, himself a victim of gun violence. Can we expect any movement on Gun Legislation in congress . Look, i do think the bump stock ban that is already being proposed, theres some bipartisan support for it, if it does come up for a vote, that is likely to make it through congress, maybe a new regulation. The reason why theres support for that its viewed more as closing a loophole in current law. If this accessory can turn a semiautomatic into an automatic weapon, automatic weapons are banned, therefore this should be banned. I dont think youll see some sort of change in the posture of congress when it comes to guns or the political dynamic of it. Until somebody loses reelection in a fairly highprofile way for not supporting a gun control measure. This conversation on guns is not going to change. Its the way our politics works. Theres more passion on the gun rights side than on the gun control side and you see it at the ballot box. We saw more chaos in the Trump Administration with reports of tensions between the president and histillerson. Is the secretarys job on the line, and how will this affect the white house . I think it is on the line, and its possible its already been determined but there are logistical reasons for not making a change. The president has a trip to china in less than a month and its not an ideal time to change secretary of state. That said, it is an untenable situation that World Leaders this isnt having a dispute with your hud secretary or the secretary of labor. This is the highest profile cabinet post in the world and when World Leaders know the secretary of state and the president arent on the same page you have an ineffective secretary of state. Thats just light rain but a steady light rain and with this there is a chance of an isolated thunderstorm. I think most areas will not see that. And then once that moves through this morning well start to dry out some this afternoon. Theres still a chance of showers for this afternoon. And come tomorrow well be dealing with remnants of nate. Nate is still a strong storm, no long aerohurricane, with winds of 70 miles an hour moving at north northeast at 23 miles an hour. Its not going to take long to move through alabama, through georgia, tennessee, and North Carolina and then toward us. 70mileanhour wind right now but it will weaken considerably by early tomorrow morning. Winds will be down to 35 miles an hour. So the wind is not the issue. The rain is and that will move along this track. The heaviest rain looks like its going to be in central pennsylvania but well still get our share tomorrow. Today well start with rain.
