Good morning. Right now President Trump is on his way to las vegas to meet with First Responders and the victims of the shooting. The president says this is a sad day for him personally. President trump and First Lady Melania Trump left the white house more than three hours ago. As they were getting ready to depart the president had this to say about their visit. It is a very sad thing. We are going to pay our respects and to see the police have done a really fantastic job in a short time. They said authorities are learning more about the gunman and the shooting. Those details will be announced at an appropriate time. The motive for the massacre rema remains a mystery. They learning more about what happened before and during the shootingment we are seeing more video from the shooting massacre. It shows Police Officers trying to save lives as gunfire rained down on the crowd. Get out of there. There are gunshots coming from over there. Go that way. Go that way. This morning we are also learning more about the shooters girlfriend. Federal agents met mary how danly at l. A. X. Last night. This is her of n a wheelchair. Danly is considered a person of interest in the massacre. They say she moved to the philippines last week at about the same time her boy wired 100,000 to a bank in that country. So that he can plan what he is playing without interrepresentation. Authorities say he set up two cameras in the hallway outside his room so he could watch for anyone approaching as he fired on a crowd of concert goers. Matt delucia is live outside the hospital in las vegas, matt. The president and first lady are expected to arrive in las vegas in the next hour and a half. He will talk with some of the victims as well as the doctors that have been working so hard the past few days. Doctors right here took the most seriously injured victims from that tragedy on sunday night. President trump is also planning to make another stop to talk with First Responders and people who jumped in to save one another. We have seen so much in terms of support here in las vegas from the blood donations to people writing messages at memorials for all to see. There were plenty of heros on sunday night when the shooting happened as people were running for their lives. I spoke with sean who is from ocean county new jersey. He was close to the stage and started leading people over fences to safety. People were dropping to the ground and i was picking people up so they wouldnt get trampled. I yelled to the crowd. I said calm down. We can all get out together. I got cuts and scratches. There are people wounded and in critical condition. We need to get them through it. And he was injured during that escape. He got cuts and bruises on his hands but she thankful he and the people around him made it out alive. Unfortunately he told me one of his clients here in las vegas did not survive. He mentioned some of the people who are seriously injured. More than 500 went to area hospitals. They took the most seriously injured being. Some of the folks i have been talking with around town say they hope the president s visit will do some good here and help start that healing process. Around town are the marquees you see up there by the casino and throughout social media here. There are messages of support trying to come together, usi using vegasstrong. They are trying to take one step at a time as they heal from this horrible horrible tragedy. Thank you. Tonight a church is holding a memorial for a youth wrestling and Little League coach. Bill wolf was in las vegas and they were celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary. We talked with one of his teachers from high school. It will impact this community. It already has dramatically. She very involved in youth sports and coaches. Everything i have heard, he was a very good coach and good with the kids. You cant have enough people like that. Wolf leaves behind his wife and two sons. They demanded immediate passage of a bipartisan bill to strengthen background checking for gun sbieers. Two spoke just before the event. With as severe as this situation is that we no longer can sit on the side line. We have to take action. People still have their Second Amendment rights. Lets make sure they ensure guns can stay out of the hands of those who were mentally insane or a criminal. Democrats hope tougher gun laws will prevent tragedies like what happened in las vegas. Every day we hear more stories of survival during the mass shooting. This morning on the today show dr. Heather melton said she is alive today because her husband died shielding her. She tried to save his life but her husband died at the hospital. The couple from tennessee just got married a year achlgt she said he was always her hero even before he sacrificed his life for her. We talk about Mental Health and checking on your mental well being is normal, common, treatable. It should be as easy as getting your Blood Pressure checked. We work hard to normalize talking about Mental Health which is why we are participating in National Depression screening day. It is okay to talk about Mental Health and wellness. Thats part of what we do to normalize and take iaway. Talk about how youre bringing it directly to the community. It will be in two locations on thursday. We are partnering with agencies and providers around the city. We are not saying come to us, meet us at the doctors office. Meet us at the therapy center. We are going to meet you in your kplunty. We are going to have conversations with you where you live, where you work, where you study, where you play. There will be screenings all around the city that day. Signs and symptoms people need to look out for. Theres obvious ones. Crying constantly, feeling with drawn, isolation but there are also ones people might not recognize as being signs and symptoms of depression. Anger, sleeping too much, sleeping too little. Eating too much. Eating too little. Difficulty concentrating or f l feeling like youre in a state of confusion or hard to focus. People dont realize it can be signs and symptoms of depression. It is important to know that everybody can experience some of those things from time to time. Really thinking about frequencies intensity, duration.
