There was a Chemical Spill thats in the process of being cleaned up now. This is South Columbus boulevard. You see the slowdown approaching the area. Those roads are going to be closed as crews deal with that. Elsewhere this morning, lastly want to check 95. You see average speeds in the 60s. Drive times looking good there. Guys, back to you. New this morning, the girlfriend of the man behind the Las Vegas Massacre is back in the united states. This is video of Marilou Danley arriving in los angeles in an nbc exclusive. She landed last night and was escorted out by fbi agents. Investigators say she is a person of interest. They hope she knows why Stephen Paddock unleashed horror on a Music Festival on sunday. Chaos caught on camera. Police have released body camera video worn by officers during the mass shooting on the strip. Get out of here. Theres gunshots coming from over here. Go that way go that way [ gunfire ] the footage shows officers trying to save concertgoers and track down a killer. Were getting a look inside the hotel room where paddock perched shooting his victims. He installed cameras inside and outside the room. They say the shooting was premeditat premeditated. The death toll stands at 59 after the coroner adjusted his previous count. Another victim died at the hospital yesterday. And today, President Trump will meet with First Responders and victims in las vegas. Nbc10s matt delucia joins us live from las vegas. You spoke with a survivor. Tell us more. Reporter they basically tell us that what happened will haunt them for pretty much the rest of their lives sounds and images of what happened that day. There are still Police Officers surrounding the crime scene across from the mandalay bay. And across the street in the median, people have been leaving candles, flowers, and praying with one another. Many finding it pretty hard to fathom what happened here over the weekend. And the Las Vegas MetroPolice Department has released body cam video to give another glimpse of what it was like for the First Responders. [ gunfire ] you see the frantic nature of what was going on as the bullets were coming down on t concertgoers. Police had trouble figuring out where the shots were coming from as ynch was trying to get to safety. As everybody was trying to get to safety. A former ocean City Resident told me he was trying to help people escape, picking people up. He says the gravity of what happened is beginning to hit him. People were dropping to the ground, and i was picking people up so they wouldnt get trampled on. I said i had to do something. I yelled to the crowd and said, calm down, we all can get out together. Theres gunfire. It sounded like if was following us everywhere we went. We were at going at full speed. Everybody was running for their lives. Reporter sean was injured during the escape. Some cuts and bruises on his hands. Hes also thankful that he and the people around him made it out alive. Unfortunately, he told me one of those clients he works with, his nephew, did not survive. And sean, like many others around here and the country today, continue to mourn the loss of these victims and pray for the hundreds of others who are recovering from their injuries. The marquees along the strip showing a message of solidarity. Vegas strong, they say. So that is the message here, that people are coming together after the tragedy. Matt delucia, nbc10 news. Thank you. People in our area are paying respects to the victims of the mass shooting. This was the scene in center city last night as a group came together to remember those killed in the attack. Some of the people here have connections to las vegas. Others have connections to other Mass Shootings including marisa anderson. She went to college in colorado, and five roommates were in the Columbine School during the mass shooting in 1999. They had this experience that theyve gone through that made them so strong and aware. They taught us so much. Marisa tells us she is going to las vegas to help in the aftermath of the mass shooting. Today lawmakers will bring the house gun violence debate to the house floor in washington, d. C. Minority leader nancy pelosi along with congressman john lewis are expected to demand immediate passage of a bipartisan bill to strengthen background checks. Former congresswoman Gabby Giffords is also expected to be there. She resigned from congress after a gunman shot her in the head in 2011. People who want stricter regulations say it would help prevent these types of tragedies. Others argue that tougher gun laws would not make a difference. People we spoke with say theyd back any proposed law that would make the country a safer one including background checks for gun buyers. I think that someone gets something in their head, theyre going to find a way to do it. Whether its with a gun, a bomb, a car, whatever. You give them the money, give them a gun. Could be a felon, could be somebody with a mental illness, Something Like that. Those are the kind of people who we need to keep the guns away from. In june, a quinnipiac poll showed 94 of americans support ed background checks for gun purchase. A pew Research Pole showed 96 of those polled want background checks for people with mental illness. And Savannah Guthrie hearing more firsthand accounts from people who survived the massacre. See her report starting at 7 00 on nbc10. A toddler left to die. A father turned his back on his son in the street after a crash in bucks county. We have more from a walmart in levittown where this began. Randy, this started with a theft. Tell us how it unraveled and ended with a child dying on the street. Reporter yeah, all over a set of speakers from this walma walmart. The suspect is accused of going into the store, stealing the speakers, and taking off in his jeep with a 2yearold in the back seat unsecured, without a child safety seat. The jeep suv crashed a short time later after police say Christopher Kuhn ran a red light. Rolled over, his 2yearold was thrown on to the road. Witness video shows Police Officers trying to revive the boy. The boys own father, chris kuhn, ran from the scene, briefly pausing to look at his dying son, but never stopping to help. He was arrested moments later. Now facing charges in his sons own death. We had a simple retail theft where we had to answer to charges, turned into a fatality. They tried reviving the little boy. I was a witness to that, and it was awful to see, as well. Reporter Christopher Kuhn facing murder charges. He had no comment for our cameras last night. Meantime, police say the value of the stolen speakers was 228. Nbc10 news. 5 39. The number of Puerto Ricans killed by the effects of Hurricane Maria is double now the initial estimates. The governor says 34 people lost their lives, and theres reason to believe the number will grow. Part of the reason is at that situation is so chaotic. Death certificates cant be signed and recorded quickly enough. The announcement of the increased number. Dead came after President Trumps first visit to the island since Hurricane Maria. The president met with officials and tossed supplies to people impacted by the storm. The president was involved in a war of words with puerto rican officials before he got there. He even raised more eyebrows with two comments. One about the recovery costs, the other comparing the death toll to Hurricane Katrina in 2005. You look at a real catastrophe like katrina, and you look at the tremendous hundreds and hundreds of people that died. Youre throwing our budget out of whack. We spend a lot of money on puerto rico. Before making the statements, the president shook hands with one of his most prominent critics, san juans mayor. Happening today, truckloads of supplies gathered by a group in new jersey should be headed to puerto rico. I told you earlier this week that a group led by Business Owner troy green collected everything from toothbrushes to generators. The items will be loaded on to a ship at petty island this morning. She held a bleeding girls iv bag and kept her talking so she wouldnt lose consciousness. New, a federal Appeals Court will decide if a defamation lawsuit against bill cosby can be reinstated. The lawsuit filed by a former actress alleges that cosby raped her and defamed her in a letter that his lawyer sent to the new york daily news. A judge dismissed the lawsuit in february saying the First Amendment protected cosbys letter. The murder suspect at the center of the netflix making a murderer series will stay in prison for now. A judge denied Steven Averys request for a retrial. She said theres not enough evidence to justify it. Averys lawyer plans to appeal. Local agents seized more than 300,000 doses of the deadly drug. The largest ever found in a countys history. The seizure is the result of a new effort between local, state, and federal officials.
