They asked for directions before forcing their way inside and robbing her mom, even taking the wedding ring off her finger. Threw her down to the ground, assaulted her, held the gun to her neck and told her not to scream or they would kill her. The victim went to the hospital to get checked out. Shes expected to be physically okay. Today the Drug Enforcement agency will report around 600 grams of fentanyl found at a home in Oxford Circle as well as supplies to package heroin. The number of opioid deaths continue to rise. Public Health Officials are teaming one pharmacies and drugprevention advocates to ensure volunteer units have narcan. A drug that can stop an overdose as its happening. Until now, each department has had to pay for the drug out of pocket. Today the first commuter rush since the septa derailment at Spring Garden friday. One car on the marketfrankford line left the tracks. No one was seriously hurt. An equipment problem was blamed. The family of a Montgomery County woman killed by her estranged husband is working to open nicoles place in her honor. Her sister says it is more than just about honoring nicoles memory. Two pilots testified that they flew menendez on private planes paid for by a florida eye doctor. Prosecutors say the flights were part of a pattern of bribery. The winds will be picking up later today. The strongest winds at the shore will be tomorrow. Fog, you mentioned that, too. Look at easton this morning. Socked in. That thick fog not limited to easton, however. Zero visibility right now at coatesville and hazelton, one mile in quakertown. Not an issue for blue bell, south jersey, delaware, fog free. Clouds are starting to move in. Those clouds are coming off of jose. 69 in philadelphia. 60s, middle 60s for the Lehigh Valley and suburbs. A little bit cooler, allowing fog to form. Warmer at the shore. 70s. Jose way offshore. A hurricane but weakening, and will be weakening the next few days. Its going to feel like its getting stronger because the storm will come closer to us. Stays offshore but comes clouds enough to spread clouds inland. That starts today. The clouds will bring showers especially later today. The shore will be the first to see them. Were not looking at allday rainfall. Were certainly not looking at temperatures into the 80s for most areas like we saudi arabia. Dry at 9 like we saw yesterday. Dry at 9 00. A shower in new jersey. Toward noon, breaks of sunshine will start to disappear in the Lehigh Valley and berks county. Low 70s, thats at lunchtime. Not all that warm. Here are some light showers moving into the shore. You see cape may to the south getting a few of those light showers. Just a few sprinkles at times. Then some breaks of sunshine late in the afternoon. Thats at 4 00 today. The heavier showers, those will start moving into coastal sections, potentially tomorrow morning. If you want to really play it safe, bring an umbrella. I think most of the day you wont need it. Definitely not heading into the water. If youre at the jersey shore, the delaware beaches, high risk of dangerous rip currents not only for today but much of the week, as well. There are events halling already. These are happening already. This happens every year on september 21st. There are events focused on mindfulness and standing up against discrimination and concerts. There was one held yesterday. Another one on thursday with the goal of making a difference. Organizers say this year people are getting involved like never before. People are standing up. The National Constitution center will hold its annual festival filled with special programs. Among them, a naturalization ceremony like the one you see here. Admission to the center is free today. Meanwhile, last night the ben franklin bridge was bathed in red, white, and blue to commemorate two special dates. It was 30 years ago when the bridge was first illuminated. And it was 230 years old yesterday when the constitution was signed. A celebration of puerto rican heritage begins today in philadelphia. The city will begin the celebration by raising the puerto rican flag at city hall. One of the guests will be oscar lopez, a puerto rican political prisoner who was pardoned by form president obama. 4 16. Puerto rico bracing themselves for maria. Maria is the next threat, however, that could be impacting, having some impact on our area possibly next week. For now, were starting to see clouds from jose. Jose is still a hurricane. Its weakening. It is offshore. Its going to spread clouds inland and possibly showers. Yesterday we saw that. Rough surf, still going. And thats not going to change today. Its going to get rougher likely tomorrow. The winds today, this afternoon especially, thats when it will be stronger and this evening, ramping up. The delaware beaches and jersey shore will feel the winds and get a few scattered light showers. Most of the day, however, its going to be dry. Were in the clear right now for showers. Theres jose. Still a long way from us. The clouds are just off shore. Now joses on the move. Jose is going to stay off shore. Its going to come close enough to give clousds aus clouds and today. Well dry out as it pulls away later there week. Where is jose going . And how strong . Right now, the winds are at 90 miles per hour. Moving to the north at nine miles per hour. Its a category1 storm and coming our way with the possibility of some heavy surf, not only for us for today but into tomorrow, especially tomorrow. 78 degrees this afternoon. A slight chance of a shower today. A better chance of some rain on tuesday. The wind will continue into wednesday. By thursday, we are drying out. Friday, the temperatures are in the low 80s for friday, saturday, and sunday. Then were dry right on into next week. Thanks for that. 4 18. Lets get you to work early on this monday morning. Southbound drive time moving from route 38 toward this point to get to the black horse pike, look at the average speeds, into the 70s. People are flying out there. And its a 12minute trip. No big problems so far. At least even through the work zones. Route 202 looks good, as well. You see green on the drive times here. 11 minutes on that southbound side from the schuylkill to route 30. Speeds are still up there also. Now service is being detoured starting about 5 00 this morning for septas route 40 and 42. For the most part, Everything Else is on time. P patco also on time. Good morning, this is nbc10 news today, first look at 4. Im tracy davidson. Im via sikahema. Hurricane jose impacting the jersey shore shore and delaware beaches. We begin with meteorologist bill henley and the latest on joses track. Hurricane jose will stay off shore. It is a big hurricane with strong hurricaneforce winds near the center. Farther away youll get tropical stormforce winds. Not today, tomorrow is most likely to see some at the jersey shore and the delaware beaches. For now, were seeing a few clouds move in. The nearest showers are nowhere near us. Theres a chance well see showers later in the day, especially as clouds start moving into the area. But were already seeing rough surf. Well see more and more wind during the day, especially tomorrow. The worst of it, the jersey shore and delaware beaches. Moving inland, effects will be lessened. Later today through thursday morning. Thats when high surf, dangerous rip current risk will continue. Minor coastal flooding, especially tomorrow is a possibility. There could be some beach erosion, as well. And the potential for some damaging winds tomorrow. For today, were starting off with temperatures in the 60s. Muggy outside. Going to be another warm one, though. Not as warm as yesterday as clouds move in during the day. Sunshine, more likely to see some this morning. 69 in philadelphia right now. 68 degrees, a few sprinkles in new jersey. Its 67 degrees in the Lehigh Valley. Well get a warmup, 70s for most areas, possibly up to 80 if you get a break or two of sunshine in delaware. Reporter i dont know if the cameras picking it up, but its lightly misting here in Atlantic City along the boardwalk. A very slight wind. Conditions yesterday resembled more of what hurricane jose is doing well off the coast. People notice, if you look at our video, just how rough the surf was and how strong the waves were yesterday. Lifeguards along the new jersey shoreline were advising people not to go in the water and if they did, no booger boaringie b going in as deep as your knees. It was a noticeably stronger surf and bigger waves. You did see people in the water, but they were staying close to shore. They tell us you could feel the current pulling Different Directions when you were in the water. I knew it was rough by the foam and how murky the water was. We spoke with the lifeguard to try to explain to her because, of course, they might listen better to the lifeguard than their parents. Reporter funny how kids will listen more to a lifeguard than their own parents. In this case, it was really important to get the message out to anyone in the water yesterday of the strong rip current and the strong waves. And kids we did talk to said they could feel the force of the surf when they were in the water. Coming up in the next half hour, we talk to some people here at the beach who said theyre taking some serious precautions, planning against what hurricane jose is going to do to the area.
