It tore a path of destruction on several islands. This video shows debris, cars submerged in water. A barbuda, which took a direct hit, nearly everything building there destroyed. Now video from puerto rico, irma passed just north of the island. The eye did not make landfall there, but the storm lashed puerto rico with hours of punishing wind and heavy rain. Some came looking for a place to stay not really knowing what kind of damage theyre going back to in the next few days. But for now, flights do continue to make their way to and from florida. Folks from our area tell us they saw that emergency to get out. It was crazy seeing everything from that area trying to get home. And i just felt kind of bad for them because i have a home to come back to to be safe but theyre just scattered all over the place. Here flights are still mostly on schedule right now. Some of those heading south are rescue workers and a rescue workers from our area is heading south and some headed down south yesterday. So people are still going to that area. For now, live at philly, international. And other First Responders from our area are headed south to help with Hurricane Irma. Nbc northeast has a task force prepared to leave for a staging area in alabama. They will eventually be send to florida to deal with the storm.
