Clear skies, completely clear this morning and cool as a result with calm conditions and low humidity. The temperatures dropped into the 50s for allentown, wilmington at 65, 65 in northeast philadelphia. Beautiful start to the day but there will be clouds building during the day and it is going to be a warm afternoon. 68 degrees at 6 00. By 9 00 well be in the middle 70s. The wind is calm and it starts to pick up at lunch time. 84 degrees and clooming. Later in the afternoon, you might need an umbrella. Were looking live at the vine street expressway where things are moving along, westbound right in here is where were seeing the threeminute drive time. Average speeds 49 miles per hour. You can see eastbound side moving along great as well. If youre headed toward 95 or the schuylkill or the 30th street station, uhl do just fine for the morning. Center city on 95, from woodhaven road up toward the vine street expressway, a 13minute trip. The schuylkill eastboundc is doing okay with a 12minute trip. We are losing two righthand lanes with ongoing construction. Not affecting too much because theres not a lot of traffic heading through. From the schuylkill to 95, a 16minute trip there. No problems or delays for septa, new Jersey Transit and the patco speed line. Chris. 4 02 now. A latenight house fire gutted a home in mantua township, gloucester county. It appears to have started on the second floor. Good news here is there were no injuries. The cause is under investigation. Now to a developing story, the start of a new school year at Westchester University brings Health Concerns for students and staff today. Heres why. A legionnaires scare has forced official to shut off water to several buildings there. Matt delucia is live at Westchester University this morning where that campus will soon be crawling with students starting a new semester. This is probably the last thing the school wants to happen at this time of the year. Reporter indeed, chris. There are ten buildings on campus that tested positive for legi legionella. It began treating the unit this weekend. That meant turning off the water system and super chlorinating it to kill the bacteria. Westchester University Says its been told by the lab that ran these tests that the levels were not high enough for immediate concern. This happened before at other high profile build innings our area, philadelphia, you might recall back in the 70s, a big case there, a deadly case. The last update provided by the university was friday. The fall semester does begin today. Students are on campus now, the Chester CountyHealth Department told the school there was no need to curtail activities. 4 30 were finding out why these buildings underwent testing in the first place. Shes charged with leaking grand jury information to a reporter and then lying about it. Katy zachry is live for us in norris f norristown. Reporter todays preliminary hearing is scheduled to are this afternoon. Thats where prosecutors lay out the case against the defendant in hopes of showing probable cause so the case will go to trial. Despite numerous calls, including governor tom wolf, attorney general Kathleen Kane refused to step down, saying she did nothing wrong. The criminal complaint charges her with leaking grnd jury information to the press. Prosecutors said she did that in an attempt to embarrass two former staffers. Attorney general kane says her rivals manufactured those charges to get her out of office and make sure that emails that she uncovered during her review of the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse case, to make sure emails related to that were not released. Coming up, youll hear from the attorney general about these charges and well look more closely into those emails and talk about what they contain. That has american investors bracing or another wild ride after fridays free fall on wall street. The dow jones dropped 531 points, u. S. Stocks posted their worst week in four years. The death of an offduty Philadelphia Police officer has revived concerns over a dangerous stretch of road in roxborough. Rafael ali, a tenyear veteran of the force died late saturday night when his pickup truck slammed into a tree on henry avenue. According to investigators, ali was speeding when he missed the curve. Residents in this area often say drivers go too fast on this stretch of road which is notorious for its tight turns. Being a wide, multiple lane road, people think they can go faster. Its not a curve you want to take at 60 miles an hour. Its like a racetrack. Investigators believe that ali may have been asleep when he crashed because there were no tire marks on the road, indicating he never hit the brake. He leaves behind two children, including a daughter who just turned 10 yesterday. 4 08. One month from today, september 24th, pope francis will be in washington, d. C. In spite of a massive weeklong effort to stop these fires, firefighters are having a tough time getting the upper hand. Air tankers, Smoke Jumpers and 30,000 crew members have been deployed. Today, france gave its highest award to three americans who sprang into action to stop a gunman on a french train. And that is the video there from just within the past hour. French president Francois Hollande met the heroes in paris and presented legion of honor medals to eep of them. Those americans, including two Service Members and a College Student were childhood friends on vacation, heading from amsterdam to paris when they saw a man with an assault rifle. The rifle appeared to be jammed. They jumped on him as he pulled out more weapons from a bag. They choked the gunman unconscious and tied him up. He hit me on the shoulder, said lets go. Ran down, tackled him, hit the ground. Alex came up and grabbed the gun out of his hand while i put him in a choke hold. It was gut instinct. I saw spencer and alex get up. Those are my close friends. I couldnt let them go alone. Authorities identified the gunman as ayoub el khazzani, a 26yearold from morocco. A french prosecutors tells nbc 10 news they are investigating whether el khazzani is part of a bigger network. President jimmy carter taught Sundae School in plains, georgia. The 90yearold has been teaching since he was 18 before becoming a peanut farmer and eventually becoming the 39th president of the united states. His message to the hundreds of people at church yesterday was very clear, peace, faith and love. So if you have a setback, accept it and set higher goals than you ever had before. President carter says he plans to continue teaching for as long as he can. It was less than a week ago that he held a News Conference in atlanta to explain that the cancer in his brain and his newly found treatment. 4 18 now. An indy car driver is in a coma at a hospital in allentown after a crash yesterday during a race at pocono international speedway. 37yearold Justin Wilson was hit in the head by a large piece of debris from another car during a crash in the final laps of that race. His car then slammed into a wall. Wilson was air lifted from the raceway and is suffering a serious head injury. Indy cars are inherently pretty dangerous with the open cockpit like that. Its one of the most dangerous forms of motorsports. We know we go out there every day with that risk. He was hit in the head. Thats a big piece of body work to hit somebody in the head. Justin wilson is still in a coma in critical condition. His wife flew from their home in colorado to be by his side. Look at this one here. The owner of sinclair sunrise cafe in chester conte is trying to track down a stolen mushroom. This is nothing he needed for a recipe. This is a 108pound concrete statue taken from outside his shop in kinnette square thursday night.
