We continue to follow breaking news out of washington. A Motel Explosion and fire near seattle. Youre looking now at new video from overnight. The flames are still burning there. Fire crews say they plan to go through the rubble to make sure theres no one trapped underneath. Authorities say someone reported bremmerton last night. People were evacuating when an explosion flattened part of the motel. The blast injured a gas Company Worker who is in Critical Condition. Everyone made it out safely from this row home in delaware county. Crews initially got reports that people were trapped in the home in upper darby. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Well, temperatures at the time of that fire were in the high 70s. Weve been talking 74 degrees now. And fighting a fire where this heat really puts First Responders at an even greater risk. Theyre wearing all that gear and equipment that can make them hotter. Thats why theres a team called the second alarmers. Nbc 10s katy zachry joins us live from the nicetown section of philadelphia. This teams job is basically to take care of the firefighters during weather like this, right . Yes, it is. Take a walk with me inside. We just are stepping in right now to the second alarmers fire station in the nicetown section of the city. The men and women who volunteer here, they respond to most fires throughout philadelphia. In fact, they just left for one just minutes ago in kensington. Their focus is helping the firefighters at the scene. Now, one philadelphia fire battalion chief tells me they would not be successful if it werent for the help of second alarmers. Their trucks carry everything from flood lights and oxygen tanks to first aid gear and radio batteries and much more. As soon as firefighters take a break from fighting the fire, second alarmers are there to check their vital signs. In this weather, the heat that weve been experiencing to cool them off and help them with misting fans and offer liquids is huge. When he comes out, our job is to get to him very quickly and make sure we some fluid in him and get his core temperature down. And the preferred drink they offer to firefighters is something called bug juice or green champagne. Its basically a powder mixture that firefighters combine with water. You can see there are pallets of water here at this fire station. Coming up at 6 00, well show you how second alarmers helped in one of the biggest train crashes seen in decades. Police say the gunman fired more than a dozen shots. Theyve made no arrests and no word on a motive. Wilmington Police Arrested a suspect in the shooting of a 10yearold boy but we still dont know how or why the boy was shot. c Jaleel Goldsborough is charged with keeping a gun that he wasnt supposed to have. Police think the gun injured his girlfriends 10yearold son early yesterday morning. The boy was shot in the head and he is in critical but stable condition. About 20 people came together for a prayer vigil outside his home last night. Guns in our community are far too many as we all know. Oh, my gosh, this really touches our heart more because it is a child. Decks have not told us what led to the shooting or whether it was accidental. Their investigation continues. A driver slammed into four pedestrians in Burlington County last night, killing a child. Investigators say the driver of the bmw sedan stopped after hitting the group along budtown road in southampton township. Three of the victims are juveniles, one is an adult. We do know the youngest victim who was about 3 years old was killed. The other two are in serious condition. The driver has not been charged. 5 05 now. Not guilty is the plea from congressman chaka fattah. He appeared in court yesterday for the First Time Since being indicted. Fattah faces charges of bribery, Money Laundering and conspiracy. The indictment alleges that the philadelphia congressman misused Campaign Money and taxpayer dollars. Fattah told a federal judge hes innocent and told reporters hes ready to fight. I fully expect that when we vet these allegations, that were going to get to a point in which they will no longer represent any cloud on my very good reputation. On monday, fattah asked his fellow members of congress to make sure the Justice Department did not mishandle its investigation. And fattahs associates also indicted have pleaded not guilty. They did that in court yesterday, including robert brand and karen nicholas. Bonnie bowser and Herbert Vederman face charges and entered not guilty pleas yesterday as well. Congressman fattah is married to nbc 10 news anchor renee chenaultfattah. Shes referenced in the criminal complaint against her husband, labeled as person e. The feds allege she took part in a scheme to fraudulently sell a car in order to pay Closing Costs on a vacation home. Shes not charge and denies any wrongdoing. A study on the perspective merger begins next month. In june, pennsylvania lawmakers enacted a new 911 fund formula that gave bethlehem and allentown four years to pursue consolidation with the counties. Meanti meantime, a petition circulating to bring Passenger Rail service to residents across the lehigh valley, a petition is on change. Org. It has more than 2,000 signatures. The mayors of allentown, bethlehem, easton and phillipsburg have been talking about the possibility of a train dedicated to that area. I did have an opportunity to speak to the battalion chief. He told us about a half hour ago they were called to the 1800 block of east clementine street right at stouten. They said there was a fire in this twostory row home, heavily engulfed. He says it does look like the fire began in the second floor rear part of the building. I asked them if they suspected squatters, of ccourse, that is something that the fire marshal is investigating. The fire marshal just arrived on the scene. Several neighbors are out here watching. Right now, firefighters tell us no injuries to report. The fire appears to have started in the rear of the second floor and right now, firefighters are going to clear the scene.
