By 9 00 well be up to 80 degrees and 85 degrees and as we go into the late morning and early afternoon hours well start watching for the showers and thunderstorms. We are starting things off this morning out on the vine street expressway. Right around 24th street. You can see drive times about three minutes headed westbound from 95 up towards the schuylkill expressway. These are the westbound lanes in here, no problems headed eastbound towards 95 as well. The drive time for the rest of the philadelphia area, 95 southbound from woodhaven road up towards the vine, 13 minutes. The same travel time for eastbound schuylkill expressway from the blue route up towards the vine. No problems on the actual blue route right now. Mass transit free and in the clear. No problems or delays for new jersey transit, septa or the patco speed line. Breaking news out west from overnight, an explosion at a motel near seattle injured a man. Authorities say someone reported a gas leak at a motel 6 near seattle last night. People were evacuating from the motel when the explosion flattened part of the building. The blast injured a gas Company Worker whos now in critical condition. Fire crews have put out the flames for the most part there. Someone shot a man in the face at 4th and sycamore streets in camden around 11 00 p. M. The gunmanc fired more than a dozen shot, police say. You con see the shell casings on the ground there. Police have made no arrests and no word on a motive yet. In delaware county, everyone made it out of this row home after it caught fire just before 1 00 this morning. Crews initially received reports of people being trapped inside that home. Everyone got out okay, though. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Firefighters in upper darby and across the area have battled the heat wave over the past several days which makes it even tougher for them to cool down at the scenes of fires. Nbc 10s katy zachry is live in the nicetown section of philadelphia to tell us about a volunteer group that works overtime to help firefighters out. Were talking about second alarmers who actually play a Critical Role in helping to put out fires. In most cases, second alarmers are the ones who keep firefighters cool and hydrated. We caught up with philadelphias Second Alarmers Association at a mass casualty training that took place in this stifling heat weve been experiencing. Theyre the ones who help firefighters cool down when they get to a scene, they set up a rehab ten the where they check vital signs, provide water and food to help give firefighters strength. Cold towels on their neck, pit area. We have to get their core temperature down. Especially when theyre in the suits, it gets very, very hot for them. A hospital in Camden County is back to normal operations now after a womans illness prompted emergency precautions last night. A spokesperson says the woman recently returned from west africa and developed a fever last night. Medics took her to Kennedy University hospital in stafford. The hospital diverted ambulances from bringing in any new patients just as a precaution. You see the workers in hazmat gear there. The spokesperson says doctors diagnosed the woman with a travelrelated illness that is not ebola and she is being treated. A driver slammed into four pedestrians in Burlington County last night, kill a child. Investigators say the driver of the bmw sedan, you see it there in this video from skyforce 10 stopped after hitting the group of people on budtown road in southampton township. Three of the victims are juveniles, one is an adult. The youngest victim was killed. Two of them are in serious condition. The driver has not been charged. Wilmington Police Arrested a suspect in the shooting of a 10yearold boy. We brought this to you as breaking news yesterday morning. We still dont know how or why the boy was shot in the head. Jalil goldzboro is charged with keeping a gun he wasnt supposed to have. Police believe that ken injured his girlfriends 10yearold son earlier yesterday morning. Hes in critical but stable condition. He came through surgery yesterday. Guns in our community are far too many. This really touches our heart more because it is a child. Now, detectives have not yet told us and in fact they may not know what led to the shooting or whether it was accidental. Their investigation continues. c4 06 now. Kathleen kanes lawyer says a state Supreme Court ruling will allow her to reveal the scandalous emails which she says are the reason shes charged with crimes. Kanes lawyer said emails in unsealed document will be used to prove her innocence. The Pennsylvania Attorney general is charged with leaking grand jury information and perjury. Last week, she claimed that the charges are part of a conspiracy to keep her from releasing porn graphic and racially offensive emails and images sent between highranking state officials. Not guilty is the plea from congressman chaka fattah. He appeared in court yesterday for First Time Since being indicted. He faces bribery, Money Laundering and conspiracy. The indictment alleges that the philadelphia congressman misused Campaign Money and taxpayer dollars. Fattah told a federal judge hes innocent and he told reporters hell fight the charges. I fully expect when we vet these allegations well get to a point in which they will no longer represent any cloud on my very good reputation. On monday, fattah asked fellow members of congress to make sure the Justice Department did not mishandle its investigation. The number of People Associated with fattah also faced a judge yesterday, bonnie bowser, Herbert Vederman entered pleas of not guilty as well. Chaka fattah is married to nbc 10 anchor renee chenaultfattah. The feds allege that she took part in a scheme to fraudulently sell a car in order to pay for Closing Costs on a vacation home. Menendez, the Senior Member of the Foreign Relations committee is the Second Democratic senator now to reject that agreement. Yesterday, he said hes against the deal because iran violated u. N. Security Council Resolutions while boosting its nuclear program. Menendez said his decision does not sway his support for president obama. And you may recall Chuck Schumer of new york was the first democratic senator to come out against the iran deal. He said it just has too many flaws. President obama pledged to veto a congressional rejection of the deal if that should happen.
