But what we got out of todays conference was that if you are trying to get into these very most secure zones in center city youll have to be screened by the secret service and if you live in center city, if you have a car parked on one of these streets, near the perimeter, you want to move it before that weekend. Yeah, when you said walking to the site of the popes mass in philadelphia, thats going to be several miles. Transportation officials laid out road closures and detours for new jersey all in anticipation of the popes arrival coming up in september. Here we go. 676 westbound, it will be closed from exit 3 to the ben franklin bridge. Route 30 westbound from the airport circle to the bridge is closed as well. Route 295 and the new jersey turnpike will stay open but exits in the camden area could close if there are serious backups. Now to the bridges. A live look at the ben franklin. We already knew it would be closed for the weekend of the papal visit but today, it was confirmed all other bridges between new jersey and philadelphia will remain open. Transportation officials demonstrated the walking route people will have to take over the ben franklin bridge if they want to see the pope. There they go right there. While you wont be able to drive over the bridge, you can still walk across it. This is not an easy stroll, though. Thats why authorities are advising people to watch from home if they are not sure they can walk several miles. Not an easy hike. We want people to come and enjoy it but we want them to be prepared for it. As for Public Transportation in new jersey, nj transit says the river line will operate on a 15minute schedule on september 26th and 27th, but there will not be service in downtown camden. And special river line tickets will be required. They go on sale this saturday, 5 each. The Atlantic City line will run but on an express schedule and only between ac and philadelphias 30th street station. Special tickets will be needed for the Atlantic City line as well. They go on sale this saturday at noon. Round trip cost, 30. Officials also announced today there will be 1100 Parking Spaces available in camden for registered buses only. Not for your cars. Police now have the guns, one of which was reported stolen. A gun debate Takes Center Stage in new castle county, delaware tonight. Some Town Council Members in elsmere want to ban people from openly carrying firearms into Council Meetings. Elsmeres mayor says he wants his town to be more like wilmington and state offices and courthouses where open carrying isnt allowed. We spoke with the mayor today and also spoke with a Council Member who believes responsible legal gun owners actually make Town Buildings safer. He says people like him would protect other citizens. A person that goes through and get their gun legally, they are the lawabiding citizen. You shouldnt be restricting a lawabiding citizen. Im not against guns. I know people who have them, open carry, dont have a problem with it. But rules are rules. The bill will be introduced at a Council Meeting tonight. There could be a public hearing on it next month. If enacted, this law wouldnt ban gun owners who are trained and have a permit to carry a concealed firearm. Today, Temple University released the findings of its committee on campus Sexual Misconduct. The group asked students about perception of Sexual Misconduct and the resources that temple offers. Most participants said there needs to be more education and accessibility resources dedicated to the issue. They also recommended developing a website students can access and awareness training. The University Says its already started to implement some of the findings. A steel beam recovered from the World Trade Center after the september 11th attacks passed through philadelphia today. Its now on its way to its new home in florida. Nbc 10 at Philadelphia International airport this afternoon as firefighters draped the beam you see with the american flag. Then they loaded it on to a cargo plane. The one ton piece of steel is now on its way to the Kennedy Space center in cape canaveral. The center has been working to acquire the artifact for more than two years. Fires possibly producing toxic fumes are burning at the site of a series of explosions in china. Chemical experts have been called in. At least 50 people including 12 firefighters were killed. The explosions were so powerful, it was even recorded by the u. S. Geological survey as a seismic event. Now the police have cordoned off the area. About 1,000 firefighters are still battling blazes. How about these new figures from the faa showing just how huge a problem flying drones near airports has become. Pilots now are reporting hundreds of drone sightings and near misses in the past two months alone. Recently air operations fighting western wildfires were interrupted because of drones. Jennifer johnson has more from washington. Reporter just yesterday an air ambulance flying a patient to a hospital in fresno had to take evasive action to avoid a collision with a drone. It was probably 15 feet from the aircraft. It could definitely take down a helicopter. Reporter the faa says pilot drone sightings so far this year are more than double last year. 650 sightings compared to 238 in all of 2014. Flying a drone near an airplane could lead to jail time. If one of these drones wag to go into an engine at a critical period, or if one of these drones was to strike the windshield, the results could be catastrophic. Reporter last sunday alone, four commercial pilots reported seeing a drone during final approach to newark airport. Off to the right side. Land 4 right. Well watch for a drone. Reporter lawmakers fear a possible terrorist attack using a drone. They are hard to detect and can carry up to 15 pounds of cargo. Hobbyists and businesses fear more restrictions and say most people just dont know the current faa rules. We have been sluggish to understand the technology, understand how it will absolutely change our economy and therefore, businesses right now are on hold in many aspects because they are waiting for word on how they can do this legally. Reporter congress has given the faa a september deadline to come up with new regulations on the use of nonmilitary drones. Both concerning same sex marriage. In a small kentucky town, county clerk Jim Davis Kim davis, i should say, stopped issuing same sex marriage licenses. She says it violates her religious beliefs. This morning, four gay couples who wanted to marry were turned away from the rowan county clerks office. A federal judge ordered davis to get back to business but she refused. I was given a number and told to go to the judge around the corner. The couple was told davis is on vacation. Davis says issuing marriage licenses to gay couples violates her christian beliefs and the constitution protects religious freedoms. In denver, a judge says a baker who refused to make a wedding cake for a same sex couple cannot cite his religious beliefs to refuse service. The Colorado Court of appeals called it discrimination. If he refuses again, he will face a fine. The baker says she has no problm serving gay people at the store but baking a wedding cake violates his christian beliefs. Nbc 10 is teaming up with dozens of shelters to find homes for pets in need. The Delaware County spca workers are around these animals all the time but for one of their veterinarians that wasnt enough. Nbc 10s drew smith shows us why she had to take one of them home. Reporter this dog has come a long way since the doctor first saw her at the Delaware County spca. She came in very sick, vomiting, very thin. Reporter her name is nikita. Last year she came to the shelter emaciated and neglected and had swallowed a toy that needed to be surgically removed. After the procedure, the doctor took her home to administer intensive care. Thats when her husband got to know her. I said we should, if she makes it, we have to keep her. She did make it. It was touch and go for a couple days. But she just got stronger and stronger. Reporter after this family adopted this dog, she is now fully healthy and helping this family and their son who has autism. I believe shes sort of like a healing dog to him because she gives him comfort when hes feeling overwhelmed or frustrated. Reporter his behavior can be difficult and his parents say nikita helps engage him better in social situations. Even highly trained dogs sometimes can be reactive. Shes not a therapy dog, not highly trained. Shes just a goodnatured dog. We are just very fortunate to have her. Reporter best of all, the dog helps Better Connect this whole family. Part of a building collapsed on to a center city street and tonight, investigators are still trying to figure out why this happened. Neighbors say they have been raising concerns for awhile now. They brought in a chipper, as you can hear, because they cant get conventional demolition equipment in here so they brought a chipper in to grind up the debris. L i says this all started when a builder wanted to create a building that was bigger than he was permitted for. That was just the start of the troubles. Two weeks before the deadly 22nd and Market Street collapse in 2013, israel says a contractor blocked his driveway with lumber for a construction project on butler avenue. That was Griffin Campbell. He was supervising that job. He handed me his business card. Reporter two weeks later, Griffin Campbell was thrown off that job after being charged with six deaths in the Market Street collapse. Two years later on wednesday night, campbells never finished 320 butler avenue collapsed into the street, trapping two renters in the building next door. Fire rescue came out and got my two tenants out of the building through another access through the church that faces 13th. Reporter neighbors say the campbell coincidence was chilling. The connection was very very concerning. I was very upset by that. Reporter all along residents say they had a feeling something would happen. Its been at the same stage for a long time. Just the basic outline of the building. It didnt seem like anyone was really working on it for awhile. Reporter somehow, no one was hurt on butler avenue. Cant build a building like this, not done properly, and exposed to the weather for all this time and expect it to not have issues. Reporter nbc 10 has been trying to contact the buildings owner but no luck so far. L i says they have a long history with this owner. The accident happened today in irvington, essex county. Police say nearly a dozen Elementary School students and two adults were on board. The bus first hit an suv, then smashed into the store which was closed at the time. He was screaming from his leg and another kid was bleeding from his mouth, i think his tooth broke or something. It was bad. The bus driver told investigators the brakes failed and she lost control of the bus. Paramedics rushed all of the passengers to a hospital with injuries ranging from cuts to broken bones. Everyone is expected to be okay. New information on a deadly house fire in chester county. Authorities determined tuesdays fire in parksburg was an accident. They also identified the victim. Melissa holbert died when flames ripped through this home on main street. She was 33 years old. Signed, sealed, delivered and stolen. Someone is ripping off mail at a Montgomery County neighborhood. Police say the mail was taken from mailboxes overnight monday and tuesday in part of toeaminson township. A resident says he found open mail in his trash can that belonged to his neighbors. Today, the epa said the river is restoring itself and lead levels are falling.
