Youll see more sunshine break through those clouds at 9 00 and at 9 00 this morning well be near the 80 degree mark and into the middle 80s by lunch time today. Were dealing with all lanes blocked for the next half an hour until 5 00 a. M. Due to ongoing construction. Philadelphia police are investigating how a child was shot while playing basketball in his driveway. A 6yearold boy. This happened just before midnight in the grays ferry section of the city. Katy zachry is live outside the hospital where that boy was taken. This boy, just 6 years old. Were told he is stable at the hospital of philadelphia behind me. Thats where his parents rushed him after he was shot in the left foot. This happened in the grays ferry section of philadelphia just before midnight. Police who first responded to the scene said that the boy and other kids were part of a large group playing basketball. They were in a driveway. They heard a gunshot. The 6yearold is the only victim despite the large group playing in the driveway. Investigators tell us this is a difficult one because they dont have a lot to go on. We couldnt find any dlis tick ballistic evidence at this time. We dont have a description of the shooter or shooters. We dont have a motive for the shooting. Police dont have a they dont have a motive. They dont have a lot to go on. They dont have ballistic evidence. They are interviewing friends and family people in the area when the gunshot was heard and, of course, when they found the 6yearold had been shot. A driver was sent to the hospital after crashing into a trucking business in Port Richmond on richmond street. Still not clear what caused the driver to lose control. No one else was hurt. There is a preliminary hearing today for a suspect accused of killing a philadelphia man and stuffing his body in a suitcase. Thomas brennan is accused in the murder of steven bernheizel. A man walking in the area noticed a suitcase and a strong odor while walking his dog. The man known as the mayfair tire slasher has been sentenced to prison. A judge sentenced davis toledo. He was con vicked in a string of tire slashings from 2012. He received probation for those crimes last may. The same judge in that case says he imposed the harsher sentence because toledo didnt stay out of trouble. Instead he tried to vandalize more vehicles. 4 35. If you live near the Artificial Island Nuclear Power complex in south jersey you might hear sirens going off tonight. Its only a test, no worries. They go off at 7 25. They sound for three minutes. The sirens are used to alert those who live nearby in case of an emergency. In delaware lawmakers are calling for more options for lowincome residents who need affordable housing. The Housing Assistance reform act will be introduce the later this week. 4 36 now. Swimmers on the jersey shore were forced out of the water several times again yesterday after more reports of possible shark sightings. The First Sighting happened yesterday afternoon in margate, atlantic county. Then there was another one in avalon, cape may county. Lifeguards jumped into a row boat to look out for those shark sightings off of gladstone avenue beach earlier in the day. Jersey shore beachgoers say they welcome the beach patrol on higher alert and the additional precautions. Out cruising looking at dolphins. We saw the lifeguard out there and everyone was out of the water which is shocking. Now, no one was injured, again, no official shark was seen but more reported sightings. The swimming was back to normal within an hour of those sightings. Crews will be out there again today on alert in case there are any more sharks spotted in the area. The suspect admitted in a jailhouse interview he fired the fatal shot. He says he was stone on sleeping pills at the time. Francisco sanchez is an undocumented immigrant with a criminal record. State Officials Say this happened at a free clinic held by the county Health Department at Memorial Hospital in manning mannington township. The shots for to thes program itself is not connected to the facility. The county nurses mistakenly gave a 2yearold boy a double dose of a Cervical Cancer drug. Two other children received expired vaccines. The audit shows a baby received a flu mist that kids are not supposed to have until theyre at least 2 years old. In that one year we had five Dosage Administration errors. Thats a bad batting average. Both of those county nurses involved in the administering of those vaccines have resigned but one of them tells us she did not resign because of this audit. The county is now offering to pay for medical monitoring for the affected children as well as for costs that may come up should those children face medical complications. Camden officials are sharing the next phase of their plan to fix the city schools. Parents and residents heard from School Officials yesterday in camden.
