Wayne Township Schools has changed its mask policy, recommending that all students, teachers and staff wear them when classes begin Wednesday — regardless of vaccination status — after new guidance around masking in K-12 schools was issued Tuesday by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The CDC says all individuals, including those who have been fully vaccinated, should return to wearing masks indoors in areas with substantial or high rates of transmission. The recommendation extends to K-12 schools, where health experts recommend that everyone be masked, regardless of vaccination status.
"Children should return to full-time, in-person learning in the fall with proper prevention strategies in place," said Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the CDC, during a press call Tuesday.
