A Waxahachie man is in custody after allegedly assaulting two paramedics sent to help him with medical issues, Abilene police said in a statement released Thursday afternoon.
Two gunshots reportedly were fired inside the ambulance transporting Michael Gaylon McMillan, 67, to the hospital after McMillan "got up from the gurney (and) retrieved a handgun from his jacket," the statement says.
He will be charged with two counts of aggravated assault on a public servant, a second-degree felony, police said in the statement.
A homeowner in the 2400 block of Regent Drive called police at 9 a.m. when McMillan arrived at their door, claiming to be there to do work on their floor, the release says.
