Watertown Children's Theatre adds ASL ensemble
Watertown Children's Theatre
The Mosesian Center for the Arts is working to make their Watertown Children’s Theatre programming more inclusive by adding an online ASL Performance Ensemble to the educational offerings for 2021.
American Sign Language is part of the history of WCT and was integrated into performances for many years. The WCT and the Mosesian Center for the Arts community were excited to reinvigorate ASL programming in recent years: A new collaboration with longtime WCT ASL instructor and Waltham High School teacher Arlene Velleman was born with the winter 2019 production of "Peter Pan Jr." featuring ASL interpretation and a sensory friendly performance. An additional ASL interpreted, sensory friendly production of "Frozen Jr." was planned for winter 2020, but the public performances were canceled due to COVID-19.
