8 new inmates at the Washington County Detention Center in Fayetteville have tested positive for COVID-19 as cases continue to increase across the Natural State. Sheriff Tim Helder said on Friday all of the new positive cases in the jail came from the new intake bock that had been quarantined, and none of the inmates had been vaccinated. "I think before we can truly move on and get beyond this, we're gonna have to get a lot more people vaccinated," said Sheriff Helder. "Our detainees are probably ahead of the curve, we've got about 51% of our detainees have been fully vaccinated another 8% have had their first shot or partially vaccinated so they're doing good."According to Karas Health, which provides medical support for the jail, none of the new positive cases are from the delta variant.
