Greater Manchester Police are warning residents about fraudsters pretending to be police officers.
Police say multiple victims have been contacted by people purporting to be police officers to try and scam people out of money.
This comes after a woman in her 70s was targeted on December 15 in Calder Road, Bolton, by a man who rang her claiming to be a police officer.
He told her there was counterfeit money in her bank account and she needed to withdraw £7,300 and he would collect it from her address
The scam was only uncovered when the terrified victim confided in a neighbour, who then reported the suspicious call to police.
