Warming centre opens in Brockville this weekend | The Kingston Whig Standard

A warming centre will open this weekend at Wall Street United Church to help the homeless just as winter sets in.
The Brockville Housing Partnership, which organized the centre, said the service is a direct response to the “pressing need for warmth and safety in our community as we enter the coldest months of the year.”

Initially, the centre will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8 p.m.-8 a.m., but the partnership has plans to operate seven nights a week during the winter. In the meantime, it also will accommodate people who need shelter on an emergency basis during weeknights when the weather gets cold.
