Dollar General’s proposal to build a second store in downtown Walnut Cove was rejected by the town’s Planning Board last Thursday night.
WALNUT COVE — The Planning and Zoning Board of the Town of Walnut Cove voted 3-1 last Thursday night to deny a developer a conditional use permit to build a Dollar General story on Main Street.
The quasi-judicial hearing on the permit request dragged on for more than five hours as both sides of the issue presented multiple witnesses.
The hearing was held at Willow Oak Baptist Church to accommodate the socially distanced crowd of concerned residents.
