Waikato University aims to become New Zealand's first 'anti-racist institute'

What led to the signing of the most important document in New Zealand's history?
The report includes a vision for the university to commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and sees mātauranga Māori as holding equal status to western academic approaches and stamping down on racism.
The report points to compulsory anti-racism staff training, a review of all systems, policies and recruitment processes including the staff and student code of conduct, more cultural events to celebrate diversity, and an improved system for dealing with complaints or feedback.
It would also create a multi-level language programme to build permanent staff competency and confidence in te reo Māori, mātauranga Māori, and tikanga.
