The latest on a developing story in new jersey. The search is on for a killer. A cab driver was shot dead overnight in rahway. Now a better picture of what may have lead to the gunfire. Kala rama is gathering new details from the scene p. Kala. I can tell you i learned new information about the p in the last 15 minutes from the cab company. That cab was dispatched to bedford to pick someone up. When the man got in the car, he tried to rob the cab driver. Well, the cab company says that their 57yearold driver is a strong wild type, the type that wouldnt freely give up his money so then some kind of struggle ensued and the suspect pulled out a gun. When the two started fighting, the cab driver hit the crater by accident crate tore by accelerator by accident and the gun went off killing the cab driver. This is a normally quiet area of bedford street. The cab with the doors open and crime scene investigators is a crown vic. It doesnt have cameras and it does not have a partition. Police have not made any arrests but they are looking into a robbery that is possibly connected. A driver had a similar situation last week where they were robbed. No violence occurred then but this time it went awry. Still no arrests have been made. We saw a helicopter flying above so they could be still searching in this area. In new jersey, rescue teams are heading back out on the water and in the air as well looking for signs of a missing fishing boat. The 40foot vessel capsized and sank off sandy hook yesterday afternoon. The Monmouth CountySheriffs Office tweed this photo apparently showing a cooler flooding among the debris field. Eyewitness News Reporter dray clark is live in sandy hook. Dray . Reporter good morning, michelle. Where is that boat and what happened to the people on board. Those are the two leading questions this morning. The full scale search to find the missing boat will resume later on this morning. It was called off last night because of darkness. The marine unit as well as the coast guard used side sonar in the Sandy Hook Channel in the area where the boat was seen sinking around 4 30 yesterday afternoon. During a search of the channel, debris was found. That included two coolers as you saw a moment ago and a life preserver. The dive team searched where the boat was last seen. The 40foot fishing vessel was seen taking on water then disappeared in the channel. The Sandy Hook Channel is 35 feet deep and 800 feet wide. Despite using boats and helicopters and side sonar, authorities have found nothing substantial. The vessel usually docks in new jersey but as we said a moment ago, there was no distress call coming from that boat yesterday and no one has been reported missing. The search is on for three robbery suspects that broke in a brooklyn apartment and used duct tape to tie up the family inside which included a 13year old girl. Investigators say the men entered the apartment on sutter, flashed a gun bounding the girl along with a man and woman, they pistol whipped the man before fleeing with about 3,500 in cash as electronics. We learn that the suspect left blood behind in the total cab after it crashed and then shortly after he took off running on foot in this area of bedford. The cab was dispatched to bedford. A federal judge approved a big revamp for the nypd stop and Frisk Program starting late next month cops must give information cards to people who are stopped but not arrested. No arrests have been made. Everyone from the coast guard to the nypd is resuming a search for a fishing boat that sank in Sandy Hook Channel. Reporter the full scale search to find the missing boat will resume this morning. The missing boat was last seen yesterday afternoon reportedly sinking in the Sandy Hook Channel. Search teams did find two water coolers and a life preserver in the water. Nypd dive team members looked underway and choppers searched from above and side sonar in use. So far search teams found nothing substantial. Police are considering the report of the missing boat substantial and serious because several people record seeing the boating down. There was no distress call from the boat and so far no one has r has been reported missing. That search, that wide scale search will resume this morning to try and locate where the boat is and where the people who were on board ended up. That is where he was captured last weekdays after prosecutors say he sexually assaulted a 7 yearold Staten Island girl. He was charged with trespassing in the girls home. The alleged rape was not reported until after he was released from police custody. A bus blew a tire, ran off the side of i85 in north carolina. It happened about 8 30 last night. Debris from the tire hit three other vehicles sending them off the road and into the trees. There were cuts and bruises. Nobody got seriously hurt.
