Even though dulcie was on a bike, she still stopped at the red light on wilson avenue. In fact there are cameras here on this wall that show that. And they show her seconds later being struck by a car and thrown violently to the pavement. They also show that man, that driver leaving the scene. Reporter Dulcie Canton is back on her bike now but it took her almost a year to climb back up. Thats understandable. The first words she heard after the accident were is she alive . Reporter this is video of the accident. Watch the left side of the screen. When she gets hit, she and the bike get thrown to the pavement and the car just speeds away. Watch from a different angle. You can see just how fast that car was going just before it hits canton. She broke some bones and even though she was wearing a helmet, the big problem was i had a major brain bleed, a concussion. That entire night in the hospital they wouldnt give me pain killers or let me sleep. They kept telling me every hour we may have to medivac you to the city if your brain keeps bleeding. Reporter after canton was hit by the car, horrified neighbors came running. But they did more than just look. They tracked down the car that hit her which was parked several blocks away. The owner of that cars Insurance Company eventually settled a civil suit with ms. Canton but he was never prosecuted. The woman who answered at richard rivera, jr. s home said he was not there tonight. Watch again how fast the driver was going and how violently he hits Dulcie Canton. I dont feel comfortable with the fact that hes still driving, hes living his life no consequences and thats frightening. It is frightening but in court it is difficult to prove who was driving the car even when you can prove what car was involved in an accident. She tried to put parking but i guess it wasnt in the right gear so i guess she started rolling back. I dont know how the boy and the girl got out of the car. But then they got hit by it. The fast moving flames destroyed a shed owned and operated by the throughway authority. The flames are out. No injuries were reported. New information about a disturbing case of animal neglect. Michael dombeck is facing charges. Many animals needing medical attention. The animals included horses, goats, donkeys and geese among others. Five of the animals needed medical treatment.
