The final tally was 122-95 in favor of the bond issue.
The total number of votes cast at the firehouse on County Route 26A between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. was 217, Montie said.
The 6,800-square-foot addition will consist of five apparatus bays that will house the companyâs trucks and other equipment, including the departmentâs boat, which sits unprotected under a pavilion, Montie said.
The new building will be constructed adjacent to the existing firehouse.
With the approved plan, Stuyvesant residents will see their tax bill increase by $1.04 per $1,000 of assessed value. For the average taxpayer, that would be about $155 annually over 15 years, Montie said.
