Voice of Grand Rapids Griffins Bob Kaser ‘has new lease on life’ after five bypass surgery

Bob Kaser attended his first hockey game when he was growing up in Florida about a half-century ago.
The longtime Grand Rapids Griffins radio broadcaster said he was nine or 10 years old, and his neighbor’s father was playing for the old Jacksonville Rockets of the Eastern Hockey League. He joined his friend at a Jacksonville game on Halloween night, and he recalled that there was a bench-clearing brawl.
“From that point on, I fell in love with it,” said Kaser, who has been working in hockey for 41 years. “I used to go down to the rink with my neighbor and watch his dad practice. It was like yesterday. It was pretty warm in Jacksonville, and we would go into the rink and it would feel pretty good.
