The website freepages.rootsweb.com lists 49 amusement parks that once existed in New Jersey but are no more. Some, like Bertrand Island and Palisades Park, are recognizable names. Others, like Nolan’s Park and Space City, are likely known to aficionados and a few others. One of the more recent casualties was Bowcraft Playland on Route 22 in Scotch Plains. Another that survived by the skin of its teeth was Clementon Lake Park, which went up for auction in March and was purchased by a company that plans to restore and operate the park.
