Vinesh Phogat Bags Second Gold In Two Weeks, Ranks World No. 1

Vinesh Phogat earned the 53kg gold medal at the Matteo Pellicone Ranking Series event, in Rome, on Sunday.
This is the second gold medal within two weeks for this Indian wrestler, secured with a dominant win as the 26-year-old World bronze medallist blanked Canada’s Diana Mary Helen Weicker 4-0 in the title clash.
The Indian champion enjoyed a great show against her opponent in the final at Rome as she kicked-off with a takedown, securing a 2-0 lead in the start. All of Weicker’s efforts were in vain. While the Canadian wrestler tried to fight her way back into the contest, Phogat belted two more points, keeping her lead.
