Vietnam War-inspired theme bar apologizes for causing ‘distress’
This bar is unlikely to win hearts and minds.
The operators of a theme bar in Australia posted an apology on social media after news of its Vietnam War-inspired aesthetic struck a nerve overseas. Imagery previously in the bar’s online ads, according to the Independent, included bar glasses full of bullets, destroyed military aircraft, military dog tags and allusions to the chemical weapon Agent Orange.
“We have taken down our content and apologise to anyone that was offended or found the content inappropriate,” Rickshaw Bar’s owners wrote. “We have revised our tone and are working hard to make this right. Sorry for any distress caused — it was never our intent.”
