The decision was reportedly made at a late-night meeting between policymakers and health officials on Tuesday.
It comes as NSW Health issued an urgent alert warning that a confirmed case of Covid-19 from Melbourne was in Jervis Bay, Goulburn, Hyams Beach and Vincentia while potentially infectious on May 23 and 24.
