Vestas has entered the Latvian wind market, with a 59MW turbine order for the Targale project from a special purpose company majority-owned by Utilitas, an Estonian utility provider.
Targale is located in Ventspils municipality in western Latvia, and will be powered by 14 V136-4.2MW machines with hub heights of 82 metres.
Vestas will supply and install the turbines, and provide service for the project through a 20-year active output management 5000 agreement.
Delivery will start in the second quarter of 2022, and commissioning will begin in the third quarter of the same year.
Latvia currently has 65MW of installed wind capacity and aims to procure 50% of energy from renewable sources by 2030.
