and tonight we're tracking gusty winds and heavy rain as severe thunderstorms hit our area. NBC five's first warning. Chief meteorologist Tom Messner and his team closely watching the radar tom What are you keeping your eye on right now? Well, it's been an interesting afternoon because things popping up as expected. We do have a couple of severe thunderstorm warnings that we are keeping a close eye on. We're watching these just tracking from the west on off to the east, right around Barnett up towards ST Johnsbury. I know it's raining like crazy for you guys. These storms are winging along this thing moving along, its some 50 miles an hour. There is a severe thunderstorm warning as you get into northern New Hampshire. So some of the spots in the way of the storm Lisbon, about three minutes out from you guys, Littleton, more like 15 in Bethlehem, we'll call it 25 minutes. What's going to happen is the wind is going to pick up maybe looking at gusts to some 60 miles an hour, so you may have some tree damage and certainly some branches could be an issue as well. Meanwhile, in southern Vermont, we've got a severe thunderstorm warning for a couple of counties down there, Townsend about 15 minutes out again, wind gust perhaps the 60 places like New Fame, 18 minutes out brattleboro at 31 assuming this does stay together and you can see the movement here. It is continuing to march on off to the east, to the north. I think we're already kind of getting an indication of the back edge of some of the severe stuff, but down to the south, it looks like it's going to last a little bit longer tonight. And To that end we have a severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 8:00 for the highlighted areas. So central and southern Vermont really is what we're talking about here. So we'll continue to keep a close eye on what's going on right now and let you know how much colder it's gonna be tomorrow. We'll see in just a few. All right, tom sounds good with the wind comes power outages, Here's a look at the power outages right now in Vermont there are currently more than 3000 people without power in northern new york, essex county has more than 2000 outages at this hour.
