man facing several charges including attempted murder and a hate crime. Thanks for joining us tonight at six o'clock. I'm brian cholera and I'm Alice king today. 27 year old Anthony mason faced a judge for allegedly using his truck to try to run over another man in Rich furred NBC five Zuri Hoffman is live in ST Albans tonight with more on this case, zuri Yeah guys and mason had to answer to the charges in court today according to court paperwork. This all started because mason believed the victim was having relations with his girlfriend. Yeah. Yeah. Mhm. It's a quiet Thursday morning in rich furred but just 24 hours ago neighbors say things looked and sounded a lot different hurts commotion and uh some squealing the tires. I didn't really know what was going on at the time so it's kinda kind of scary you know I'm just four houses down. It was really scary. I thought he had hit him. Uh huh. But it turns out he just he hit the building, he hit the porch, he hit the bike. Um didn't actually hit my neighbor, which was very relieving brangelina tells us she was woken up by someone trying to run her neighbor over with their truck while shouting racial slurs around nine a.m. The whole time. He was just dropping the N word like crazy And it was very uncomfortable. According to court paperwork. Police believe the victim was standing on his porch with his dog when 27 year old Anthony Mason drove up, smashed the victim's dirt bike and tried to hit the victim with his truck while shouting at him and threatening to kill him. The victim, Michael Wilson did not want to speak with us as he left his home. Honestly got no comment. The affidavit says mason believed the victim was having relations with his girlfriend. The document also says Mason allegedly put a gun to his girlfriend's head and took her phone, the paperwork says, before going to the victim's house, Mason sent the victims Snapchat messages around three a.m. This is state versus Anthony Mason. Mason is now in police custody charged with attempted murder, two counts of unlawful mischief, one count of reckless endangerment and one count of a hate crime. He pleaded not guilty to all five thursday. So the motion to dismiss for lack of probable cause is tonight and it's not guilty. Your honor back in richard neighbors are glad a bad situation didn't turn out worse. They're hoping this type of incident never happens again. Stop the hate, Stop the hate. We're all humans. I mean we all bleed red and once again, Mason pleaded not guilty to all of those charges. He's currently being held without bail tonight. Live in ST Albans. I'm zuri Hoffman, NBC five news.
