Tech equipment upgrades at Hanover, Norwich schools cheaper than expected

HANOVER — Bids for a technology upgrade for Hanover and Norwich schools have come in so far under estimates that school officials plan to pay some of the cost with surplus funds and take out a much smaller loan than anticipated.
Last winter, cost estimates to improve cabling, switches and other digital hardware at the three schools totaled $1.3 million.
But bids came in at $592,000 for Hanover High School and Richmond Middle School, $165,000 for Hanover’s Ray School, and $142,000 for Norwich’s Marion Cross School, for a total cost of a little more than $899,000.
