This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the United States and Uzbekistan. The United States was among the first countries that recognized Uzbekistan’s independence in 1992 and has maintained growing bilateral relations over the three decades since then. Indeed, Tashkent has become a notable partner of Washington on a wide range of foreign policy issues. Unambiguously, Uzbekistan has been a supporter of United States actions in Afghanistan and, more broadly, of the global war on terror.
