UWI: 'Butch' Stewart a cultural spirit of the ages like Bob and Bolt

The University of the West Indies Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Hilary Beckles has joined the chorus of regional tributes to Jamaican businessman Gordon "Butch" Stewart.
Stewart, who owned Sandals International Resorts Limited and ATL Group of Companies, which included the Jamaica Observer Limited, passed away in Miami on Monday.
Beckles paid tribute to Stewart in a statement Wednesday.
"There is an indomitable spirit that resides in the bosom of Jamaica, and when liberated with focus, discipline, and purpose rises and takes the world along with its imagination and energy. Our 'Butch,' like Bob (Marley) and (Usain) Bolt, represents this cultural spirit of the ages.
