The University of San Francisco said Wednesday that it's investigating an alarming situation where a noose was hung outside a dorm in late March.
The noose was found hanging from the fourth-floor balcony of the university's Loyola Village on Anza Street on March 30, according to Brianna Johnson, the president of the USF Black Student Union who wrote an open letter to the university administration that was posted on San Francisco Bay View National Black Newspaper.
"This noose and chair are positioned for the noose to be seen from the courtyard of Loyola Village with the chair in the background, which in historical context is a powerful image of Black bodies on display," Johnson wrote. "This is a violent and dangerous act that students were not made aware of until the morning of the following day."
