Martin Adler had entered the Naldi family home in the village of Monterenzio near Bologna as Allied forces advanced on the Nazis in the autumn of 1944
After hearing strange noises come from a wooden basket he aimed his weapon
But from it two girls, aged six and three, and a seven-year-old boy emerged
Adler, 96, was reunited with Bruno, Mafalda and Giuliana Naldi over video call
