If you have a loved one that died from COVID, the federal government is now offering to help pay for funeral expenses.
Starting today, FEMA is taking applications for a program offering as much as nine-thousand dollars to cover funeral expenses for each victim. The Funeral Assistance Fund covers those who died from the virus after January 20 of last year. The death certificate must say the death was caused by COVID-19.
FEMA Administrator Bob Fenton said the agency is affirming its commitment to help with funeral and burial expenses "many families did not anticipate." Call 844-684-6333 or 800-462-7585 between 9 a.m.-9 p.m. EST to apply.
