MONTEVIDEO, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- South American trade bloc Mercosur (Southern Common Market) should make trade negotiations with third countries more flexible, Uruguayan Foreign Affairs Minister Francisco Bustillo said on Tuesday.
Speaking at a virtual meeting a day ahead of the bloc's presidents' summit, Bustillo said the way to celebrate the group's 30th anniversary on March 26, 2021, is "with new trade agreements with third parties" and "with intra-zone trade that does not suffer unnecessary obstacles."
"Flexibility should be the norm and not the exception" to facilitate "concrete achievements and greater integration towards more opportunities for our citizens, companies and workers," said Bustillo, whose country currently holds the bloc's rotating presidency.
