The streaming giant's latest true crime offering is another look at a mysterious case. Murder by the Coast, released on June 23, is a Spanish-language documentary that looks to the shocking murders of 17-year-old Sonia Carabantes and 19-year-old Rocío Wanninkhof.
Taking us to Spain in 1999, when the case originally unfolded, viewers see how Wanninkhof's case received widespread (and scandalous) media coverage, due to the the case being steeped in homophobic attitudes from the time.
Why? When Wanninkhof was found murdered, the media and courts suspected all but one person for the terrible act: María Dolores "Loli" Vázquez, the former lover of Wanninkhof's mother, Alicia Hornos.
