BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Captain Gail DeJarnett with Birmingham Fire and Rescue just confirmed two people have died in the Highlands apartment fire.
The victims are a middle-aged man and an elderly woman. The fire investigator says they were mother and son. They have been identified as 76-year-old Sylvia Anderson Pate and 48-year-old Christopher Dwight Pate.
One additional person was transported to the hospital.
DeJarnett says the fire is classified as accidental.
