The increasingly testy breakup between the University of New Mexico athletics department and one of its biggest donors took another step Wednesday.

UNM has drafted a “complaint for breach of contract” seeking arbitration to resolve its naming rights dispute with Dreamstyle Remodeling, the Albuquerque-based company owned by Larry Chavez. In 2017, Chavez entered into what was supposed to be a 10-year, $10 million agreement with the university. It included naming rights to both University Stadium, home of Lobo football, and University Arena, better known as The Pit.
