Medical students at the university are required to complete volunteer hours at approved community organizations as a mandatory part of the curriculum.
Carissa McGuin, a third-year medical student and representative with the Gender Engagement in Medicine student group, said many students were concerned when they saw the centre on a list of placements.
"It was brought to my attention that this organization in particular is actually a religious organization and a crisis pregnancy centre," she said in an interview.
"We talked about what (crisis pregnancy centres) are and the potential harm they can cause to patients, and that was when we decided to reach out to the college and write a letter to let them know our concerns and that we wanted it removed as an option."
