United Way of St. Johns collecting for Empty Stocking Fund

Supported by community donations since the 1980s, the Empty Stocking Fund assists vulnerable children and fragile seniors in St. Johns County with funds for food, clothing or toys at the holidays. Tax-deductible donations are fully distributed. Last year, $104,000 was dispersed during the holidays to assist more than 550 families and seniors.
This year, distributing funds, sharing additional services and volunteer involvement will be incorporated with the following — and potentially more — partners: The Salvation Army, St. Johns County Fire Rescue working with St. Johns County School District, CareConnect, Pie in the Sky and Council on Aging.
Applicants should contact the partners listed above or United Way of St. Johns for guidance. In an effort to provide wrap-around and more extensive services, applicants should note that there is not a stand-alone application for the fund this year.
