In a major move, the Centre on Monday proposed a budget outlay of Rs 2,23,846 crore for the health sector, with Rs 35,000 crore earmarked for Covid-19 vaccines in the upcoming fiscal.
While presenting the budget on Monday Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman positioned health and wellbeing as one of the six crucial pillars of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' (self-reliant India) as she increased the allocation for the sector by 137 percent when compared to the current fiscal.
