University Medical Center is partnering with caretakers through the South Plains to provide a free car seat and training class to keep children safe on the road.
UMC said in a news release that over 700 children are injured due to vehicle accidents, and out of those accidents, 75% had their car seats installed incorrectly.
UMC Trauma & Burn Services is offering the Car Seat Safety Program, where any parent, caregiver, or expecting parent in the last trimester of pregnancy who needs a car seat can attend the class and receive a free car seat. The class is only one hour, and will take place on July 23rd, August 27th, September 24th and October 22nd.
